Treatments for Topaz and other gemstones

Hello,

Not sure if this topic has been discussed but I did a search and nothing came up. I love Swiss blue topaz and its electric blue color. Is it safe? I read online that the the treatments involves using nuclear radiation. I guess there are safety limits and it should be ok. My concern is blue topaz coming from China. I wonder if they follow protocol in China and let the gemstones cool, etc. Does anyone know anything about this?

There are good deals following the holidays but after reading this online I am concerned about buying an enhancer, etc with a big sized blue topaz.
