Re: Travel Wedding Band

[ Edited ]

I have two CZ wedding bands that I wear for travel.  That's very pretty.  I also travel with my CZ stud earrings.   Ive always been more concerned with losing my jewelry than someone's stealing it.

How about a simple, unadorned gold band?

Me too on both, including my engagement and wedding rings.  I'd be even less concerned if I was wearing gloves.  Have a wonderful trip @JeanLouiseFinch !

@ahoymate That is how I feel.  Bling is bling no matter if it is real or not.  I don't wear anything that will tempt anyone.  My life is more important than my jewelry.  I have a friend that loves Louis V bags.  She brought a fake on on a trip to Vegas and someone ran up behind her and stole it with all of her credentials in it. It is so sad that we can't wear what we want in fear that we can be a target.

About 15 years ago DH and I took a 2 month cruise to Brazil ( included 1000 MI down Amazon and then back plus going all the way to NYC). Very dangerous in Brazil ( heard of someone who got mugged very close to nice hotel where we stayed and almost had his finger cut off to get his ring) so we wore no rings and obviously cheap watches. Many on cruise lost their jewelry when they went ashore. Still glad we went on trip.

@Janey2   some of these people think all of NYC is Times Sq circa 1982.  Lol.   It's funny

My ring arrived today.  It's a stunner, with a comfortable and a perfect fit.  I can see myself wearing it often, not just when we travel.

I travel fairly frequently and I have a mini-wardrobe of travel jewelry.

I do not wear Diamonique, nor silver (anymore).

I bought this ring from QVC last year for travel in fairly safe areas:

J415895

"As Is" Affinity Diamonds Cluster Bridal Ring 14K Gold

When I want to be a bit more cautious I use a very thin diamond and gold band that I purchased from Macy's.

I agree that true criminals may not know the difference between real and fake when they see your hand sparkling. I prefer a bit smaller and more subtle when I might feel uncomfortable.

Both muggings and pickpockets are sadly becoming more common in tourist areas because criminals know travelers have money and nice things.

The best way to avoid problems is always act like a local. SInce I live in Philly, I am always pretty savvy when I go to NYC.  I am going up there for an evening event in a few weeks--I will take the trains to and from one city to another and walk a lot.

I LOVE NYC during the holiday season--so busy, festive and fun--but the hotels are sky-high these days.  Maybe I can squeeze in a weekend up there, but husband prefers New England skiing.

Have a great trip!
