@Sooner's post got me thinking. If I were to purchase a 3 ct lab diamond and had it set in platinum with lovely side stones of some sort, should I expect some outspoken, opinionated person to question the chemical makeup of my stone? "Is that a real mined diamond or one of those lab diamonds?" If so, how should I answer?
A Yes
B No
C First you tell me why that is any of your business.
D Just say excuse me and walk away
E None of your (expletive deleted) business

I doubt anyone would ask. Why would they? Also if they do why would you not be honest. Sparkly is sparkly, pretty is pretty. Every sparkly pretty stone does not have to be a diamond. Moissanite pieces are lovely. I would have no problem telling people my moissainte pieces are moissainte.

@JillyMarie Got an answer for you! Look shocked and hurt, maybe hand to chest in horror, and say to the rude questioner:
"OH MY GOODNESS! You think this is fake?" "OH NO!" It looks FAKE?"
By this time the hapless rude questioner should be red faced, stammering and back-tracking the question. You should practice this in the mirror to get your near tears, hurt, shocked look down pat! I think that would solve the problem.

LOL. I don't own any lab diamonds. Plenty of Diamonique though. I just say it's fake. Real diamonds included. Everything I wear I tell folks if they are interested. it's fake. I have real diamonds, but they're not as nice looking as the lab created ones. So I'm not stretching the truth too much when I claim real diamonds as fake.

So you have been asked. Interesting. I just find that to be astonishing that someone would find that an acceptable question.

I don't wear costume jewelry or jewelry above my pay grade. So to speak. Just not me. I did have a few pieces I traveled with, like cz studs and less expensive pearls, however.
@Sooner ITA. I purchased a Diamonique ring (oval) and eternity band that was almost identical to my wedding set. I wear it traveling along with my Diamonique studs. I also wear these during the holidays in crowds so my real things aren't stolen.
I do however enjoy a few pieces of costume jewelry.
@Shanus My girlfriend had Thanksgiving at her in-laws. She had a beautiful 3 stone diamond ring. She took it off to help with dishes, all family and someone took it. So sad and horrible at the same time.

If it was very pricey hope it was insured.

It was very pricey @SharkE Her husband always had her in expensive clothing and jewelry. She could care less.
They have this huge home. Always wondered how they could afford it all. He was a Commander with the Sheriff's Department.
A few years later he including the sheriff were arrested for working with Drug Cartel.
He was very smart with his money. They couldn't find anything in his accounts and everything he was paying could be justified with his job. He did 2 years and was allowed to retire.
