Jewelry shows are almost nonexistent on QVC and it's only going to get worse.

Someone posted an interesting article under Q TALK (QURATE 3RD QUARTER RESULTS 2019). They talk about all shopping categories, but here is the jewelry info:

And finally our jewelry business is down $20 million for the quarter and $60 million for the year as we continue to reduce jewelry airtime in favor of more productive categories. Since jewelry has been declining for multiple years it is not contributing to the worsening sales trend this year.

The handwritting has been on the wall for years. Back in the day QVC used to air multiple hours of jewelry every day. Over the years they have continued to cut back on jewelry shows. They go where the money goes. No one is buying jewelry like they did years ago. Younger women aren't into jewelry and older women probably have enough to last a lifetime.

@lmt   I don't believe that. Beautiful jewelry presented at reasonable prices can be tempting. Younger women are beginning their basic, good jewelry wardrobes. I get orders all the time. As far as older women (I guess me), I've stopped wearing huge chunky gold pieces, changed to smaller, precious pieces. QVC just has lousy buyers who have no idea what current styles are popular and continue to show heavy, expensive chains, earrings, rings...of course too much money!!

I totally agree that Q's buyers are out of touch.  And they are missing the boat by not offering more mid-range priced jewelry.

No excitement at QVC jewelry forum because QVC prices are out of reach for most, inventory is terrible, shows have disappeared.  But a new item today is a Ripka sterling and diamonique cuff for $899!  The buyers need to be replaced.  I have no doubt shoppers will buy jewelry if it is reasonable, has meaning, is attractive, and is shown on air.

QVC isn't a big player in the shopping channel jewelry market now.  They gave up on jewelry quite a while ago.  They play it safe by selling the things they know their regular jewelry customers will buy.  Nothing generates excitement so there is nothing to talk about.  I'm still buying jewelry, I cannot help myself.  I've been a jewelry fanatic since I was young and bought fashion jewelry.  I buy my jewelry from ShopHQ, ShopLC and JTV.

@chrystaltree @That is so me!! My college roommate had a medium sized jewelry box filled with earrings. I had three pair. At that moment, the💡went off for me!! I started buying jewelry and haven't stopped. Now at 54, I've slowed it down quite a bit, you know, been there bought that. I'm more particular in my old age, but sometimes I see something and just have to have it. 😁. Happy shopping to another jewelry lover.

Wow!  Only a serious Ripkanista would pay that much for silver and simulated stones!
