Well that does not apply to me. I have bought 2 very nice necklaces in the last two months from Ross Simmons. Each time I posted a thread here about them. I just updated my latest thread about receiving the necklace in the mail. I have been buying jewlery without fail as that is my passion. Also bought lace filgree gold earrings to wear with both of my latest filigree necklaces. Everything I buy is 14K gold too. Well, lately it has been al 14k but just a few years ago it was platinum and diamonds I was buying.

Agree, the price of Gold . Even ShopHq does not mention the gram weight of pieces as much as they used to along with offering a little less gold inventory. QVC outlet stores used to be filled with gold pieces ,discounted from on air prices however you had to pick through it carefully for defects . The best time to buy was when price of gold wa low.

@Bird mama wrote:@depglass I've been retired for 18 months now and have edited (if that's the word) my jewelry collection. I sometimes pick up a piece from Carolyn Pollack/American West now and then and post about that in the Carolyn Pollack forum.
I picked up some Linea fashion jewelry and posted in the Linea forum.
I guess I'm just at a point where I feel like I have enough. If I want fashion jewelry, I get it from JCP.
@Bird mama I'll occasionally pick up an interesting piece here. I like American West too and just ordered the cute new patriotic heart pendant that's on waitlist...I like it better than the star & hope I can get it.

Maybe if I was still working or if I was more involved socially then I would probably be buying more jewelry. But I'm retired and my lifestyle is different now. Most of the time I don't find the need to wear my jewelry. Only once in while do I wear one of my nice bracelets or fancy earrings. But that doesn't happen all that much. It's sad because I own a ton of very nice jewelry and most of it just sits there looking pretty.
ETA - I don't think we'll be seeing many jewelry shows anymore. The economic landscape has switched to a younger demographic and it seems jewelry is not as appealing to that group as it is to older generations, me included. My younger friends couldn't care less about my jewelry and it's rare to hear any of them comment on any piece that I have on. Had I gotten a new tat...now that would be more of a conversation starter.

@depglass these are my latest two 14k yellow gold necklaces I bought from Ross Simmons. The top one is 20 inches long and the bottom one is 24 inches long. I plan on layeing them both as that is in big this year. I have never been disappointed in anything i ever bought from RS, always top quality! I bought a 14k gold bib necklace last year from him that is gorgeous.

Still watch and still buy!
However, I do buy much less and make sure the pieces are special.
Right now Stefano is visiting SHOP HQ with all his pretty gold jewelry.
This weekend SHOP HQ will have its Holiday Diamond Gala.
I just received my Ripka Panther watch (J357009) from a lunchtime special. So sparkly!

They very seldom mention the gold weight and I refuse to buy unless I know what the gram weight is. Ross Simons is very good about his descriptions.

I have more jewelry than I can ever wear, only about 20% of it is "real".
I have one daughter and she is not even interested.
I'm waiting for this ring to be delivered tomorrow from JTV
2.5 carat moissanite fire & 2 morganites.
I wasn't looking to buy one but Charles Winston has been on air so everything is marked way down, plus a Veterans Day sale. $300
I'm trying to save money for Black Friday! DD and I like to shop at a local outlet mall on Thanksgiving evening.

I finally put on my glasses so (even though I'm a few feet from the 50 something ft TV, those earrings were so freaking small, I put on my glasses!
Some of this stuff is downright ugly.
I have no idea what's "in" or "out".....I don't care. I couldn't even impress anyone if I wanted to.
None of my friends give a rat's buttocks what's in or out. The only places I go are out to lunch almost every day (with a friend) and/or to the Drs.
I do get a lot of compliments about my jewelry but mainly because I match the color (of the jewelry with what I'm wearing)....Those ladies in the Drs ofc have never said, "Oh! That looks like a bla bla". Ha!
Diamonique is alive and well at my house. All of the stones are real but I hate, hate real diamonds.
A total waste of money. They are not precious stones. My girls know that.
My friend and I was laughing if someone robbed me they'd think "OMG! I'm rich". Diamonique.
I have my daughters most of the really expensive jewelry my late husband gave me over the years.
He paid a lot of money (thousands of dollar with some of it). They don't even wear it.
My oldest daughter does wear a very expensive diamond ring every day along with her wedding rings.
But she wears it because she remembers being with her Dad when he bought it for me.
Diamonds are the biggest joke.
I wonder what Colleen's house looks like that she owns just about everything she sells?!
@Annabellethecat66 Diamonds are not a big joke if you have them, love them, they have sentimental meaning and you enjoy wearing them.
