@depglass@brcala  YAG is Yttrium aluminum garnet, a synthetic crystalline material of the garnet family. It was made in several colors and also clear. It was first grown in the 1950's and by the 1970's it had been replaced by Cubic Zirconia as a manmade diamond. If depglass friend's ring is from 1910-1920 it could not be YAG. Sapphires and diamonds come in many colors. A GIA certified gemologist would know the difference.
