Wouldn't you love to have this to have it cut into a huge beautiful stone for a piece of jewelry?1000002349.jpg

Looks like a fossil in the middle of it.

@Mz iMac.  I think it's just an inclusion.

YES!!!  I love tanzanite!  Now that it's considered a birthstone for December I have an excuse to buy more of it lol.❤️

That is really beautiful. Tanzinite is one of my favorites but it is so hard to find one that looks like it should- a deep purple blue.

The ones they've shown on QVC are like a light to somewhat darker amethyst all the while saying how top grade etc etc. I ordered a ring once they showed that on air looked promising but it was a washed out very light purple blue.

I have seen some uncut stones from different sites that look like the one shown but smaller. And they are very expensive. I'm always happy to see some that actually look like what tanzinite is supposed to.

I bought myself a few tanzanites.  The first I bought in England.  The second was purchased from ShopLC.  It was featured in a rare gem show.

Those are gorgeous.  I'm sure they are AAAA stones.  I have ring and matching pendant from Shoplc.  AAAA.   I love that set.  At some point,  I will find the earrings I want.

@chrystaltree    Thank you so much.😊. I just love them.  It's a shame I don't go out enough to really get to wear them that often.  Lots of times I'll just wear different pieces around the house lol.  I'd like to have some earrings too, but I'm gonna have to wait a bit lol.

Tthey were sold as AAA stones, but the sellers said they thought AAAA was what they actually were.  My local jeweler said the same.

I think the older pieces are deeper in color.  They still sell some of the "Block D", but for the most part the lighter color like you mentioned is what's out there.

It's interesting to see the various shades of tanzanite. My ring is a lighter purple than the big stone pictured. And it appears at least in the pictures that @cheriere  rings are more to the blue side. All beautiful!
