Possibly an optical illusion due to camera angle.  Don't think they'd photograph an obviously flawed item.

I'm not sure about an optical illusion on the black ring.  The shadows give it away on that one.  It is definitely missing a stone.  Someone falling down on the job and bad QA.

These things have happened before.  It's usually on Diamonique bracelets when it happens.  I received a Jackie Kennedy bracelet for the third time without a stone in it.
