Yes, and pointing the finger leaves the other four pointing back at oneself. Everyone seems so willing to forget that this country was owned and occupied long before most of those involved in this conversation ever immigrated into it.

Thorough geneology might reveal shocking evidence of  commonality not all of us are willing to accept.  ( please fill in the remainder of the thought which would undoubtedly get this pooofed)

Re: TOO MUCH RELIGIOUS JEWELRY

A few years ago I  actually questioned by email a vendor offering jewelry from Israel.  I really cannot remember his line or his name.  But I do know he was Jewish and he had jewelry that was Roman Glass with Christian symbols.  No Jewish items.  I thought perhaps if I contacted him he would bring one or maybe two next time around.

His answer: THERE IS NOT ENOUGH OF A MARKET FOR WHAT YOU WANT,  I TRIED IT AND IT DID NOT SELL.  SO I AM NOT GOING TO BRING ANY BACK.  HE THANKED ME FOR MY  INTEREST and told me I could check some online sources.

I am sure it is a business decision.  I take no issue with that.  I simply tune in and enjoy what is offered and think of some of my friends who might like the symbols as a gift from me to them.

I've been seeing a trend of many crosses, message (Christian) bracelets, necklaces, etc. across the board in most lines of jewelry at the Q. While Jewish people ARE a minority, it'd be nice to offer an alternative  (star of David, Chai)....especially when the religious item is a special offer or TSV. I notice even Or Paz from Israel has caved into the cross styles...very disappointing. Christmas in July & 24 or 48 hour Christmas line ups of shows leave out other religions who do not celebrate that holiday. Please be inclusive.

Israel is the Holy Land to Christians as well as Jews - in fact Christian tourists far outnumber Jewish tourists to Israel every year.  so of course Israeli artisans are aware and sell to that market, so don't see why Or Paz wouldn't represent that.  i speak as someone who comes from mixed religious traditions (Christian and Jewish).   when Kathy Levine was at the Q, there was actually a greater presence of Jewish items -  but i believe she said they didn't sell all that well as many Jews buy from their synagogue gift shops.  i know where to go for strictly Jewish items, especially in this day and age and understand the ways of the mass marketplace for retailers.

Synagogue gift shops?  That's a new one on me!

And let's face it.  It's just a bunch of trinkets.  The living, the earth, and beyond.  It's how we treat it all.  That's what counts.

Back at oneself for WHAT? That very few of us are Native America? True.  So ......?

I guess you really abhor me. I wear cultural and "religious" symbols from many different world religions and cultures. No Christian symbols, though, because I am not.

if you mass market the symbols of faith, then yes it is abhorrent . I'm not the first to say so. You? How could a stranger make a judgement like that?
