So i have received some old jewelry pieces.  One is a pretty stick pin with pearl on the tip.  But i cant figure out how to remove the end cap at the pointy end.  Can someone help?

Did you try unscrewing it?

Usually they just push on.

I tried to unscrew again and pushed on something, felt it give.  At the top of the cap was a push down mechanism that released the cap.  Days of looking at it trying to figure it out.  Something about it is so simple and lovely.  I think it is 1920 vintage.

Hi. Try pinching the top and pull off. Usually that works for me. Or, pinch and turn. Good luck.

I think push the big part to the little part then pull off both together

@Shawnie  The sharp (pin) end should pull out of the cap. They are usually held in with a silicone type cushioning, much like the chains that can have varying lengths by sliding the "ball" (also filled w/ silicone, spongy material) to the desired length. 

Take care not to break it. I'm sure there would be little or no charge to take it to a jeweler who deals w/ estate pieces. It's probably embarrassingly easy!!!!
