Is there anyone on this planet that does not know by now that the mine is closed??  I am so tired of hearing the same old story.  But yet, there seems to be an abundance of it at escalated prices.  I am so glad I have what little bit I have accumulated over the years.  Sorry, had to rant😘

Re: Sleeping Beauty Turquoise

I too am tired of hearing about sleeping beauty, but, if you listen to the experts the mine is closed due to the copper industry taking it over, not because it's depleted. I'm sure when the black market runs out, they will find a way to open for turquoise again.

Re: Sleeping Beauty Turquoise

I smiled when I read your post.  I agree with you but alas.

I am actually partial to the color of the Kingman turquoise and I noticed QVC was selling a pendant yesterday afternoon for $699.00.......wait for it.......on clearance.  Holy cow am I glad I purchased my Kingman years ago!!

Re: Sleeping Beauty Turquoise

I do know about the SBT mine, but I don't assume everyone watching QVC knows.

I, for example, was totally unaware that QVC is/was running some kind of sweepstakes as per the thread at the top of the Forum list jusr a few minutes ago.  I guess some who watch all the time know pretty much everything that's going on, but since I'm determined not to buy much right now, I haven't been paying much attention to what others think is important, I guess.

Actually, I've always preferred turquoise with a matrix.  To me, I'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between SBT and plastic.  Too perfect for me.  I hope they start bringing back what they used to sell as turquoise, during which time the hosts would always rave about the matrix!!!!

I love Kingman, however I would never spend $699.00 for it.

Re: Sleeping Beauty Turquoise

Ha ha ha ha   Hurry, hurry get your Sleeping Beauty turq before it vanishes from the face of the earth....lol   The mine is closed, the mine is closed, the mine is closed....lol  Meanwhile all the shopping channels are selling buck loads of the stuff...lol  It's that silly man made Moissanite.  They give something a romantic story and say it loud enough and often enough and charge so much for it that people just buy the story.....and the gemstone...lol   I remember a couple of years ago, a vendor or designer on Jtv told the truth of the matter.  The mine is closed but there is so much Sleeping Beauty in the wharehouses and private collections that it will be available for many, many years to come.  And now there is another source of lovely blue, matrix free turq that comes from Mexico.  Sorry, I cannot remember the name but Liquidation Channel sells it.  They do special shows every now and then.  They are aleady talking about how 'rare" it is and how small the mine is.

Me too.  I like turq with matric, large stones in heavy sterling settings.
