Re: Ruby bracelet on ShopHQ?

Do yo realize it is a garbage quality ruby? I understand that not everybody can buy premium stones, but you have to be aware of what you buy. Bracelet by itself is good looking but the content.....

If you purchase it, please report back.

Re: Ruby bracelet on ShopHQ?

I do not see the appeal of opaque rubies.

Hey you, get off of my cloud...

Hi scottie...........yes, it's the new name for the former ShopNBC. I personally like the bracelet and think opaque rubies have a place in one's wardrobe just as finer stones would. It's no different than costume jewelry vs fine gold jewelry. Most of us could never afford a ruby bracelet of this size with clear, grade A rubies.....or I guess I should say, that I would never be able to afford it. Ruby is my birthstone and while of course it's not as pretty as a fine grade stone.........it's still pretty.

$195.00 is too much for that bracelet. You'd be better off buying created rubies than that quality gems. Its a hot mess.

Re: Ruby bracelet on ShopHQ?

ITA about it being over-priced. Totally opaque rubies set in silver? yuck squared.

It's a shame Chuck has gotten away from fine jewelry in recent years. He used to sell really great stuff. Now most of it is costume. I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole. That price is just insulting.

I did watch a few minutes of his presentation from last night and, as expected, he's acting like these awful awful rubies are the best thing ever. I love rubies and have many. But I'd go for quality, not opaque pinkish rubies - and set in silver? gadzooks. Clearly they don't deserve to be set in gold but I'd just pass entirely.

Hey, thank you NiteStar.

I agree about the rubies. Of course we would all want the finest grade of ruby but I don't know anyone who could afford a bracelet like that with multiple stones with high grade.

Myself, if I like it I don't worry about whether it's real, costume or a mixture. I just consider if I like it, and if the cost is in line with the quality.

Re: Ruby bracelet on ShopHQ?

It is not Chuck's or anybody 's fault that they sell what they sell these days. Good quality gems are commodities and the new money nations like China and India invest in it rather than money. That's one thing. The other thing is that the generation of people who were willing to pay for good stuff is getting old,or dying off,or simply watching their finances that were crashed by failing economy. The young generation is spending on clothing, bags, shoes , electronics, outings, etc and simply it's expensive to raise kids these days. So they are not the target audience of the gem industry. That's my analysis of the current situation.
