Re: Roman Glass Jewlery Question

Lotus, I own quite a few of Danny's rings and love them. I have stayed away from Roman glass "in a ring" for the reasons mentioned above. Despite trying not to I'm getting my rings wet and they also have to withstand a lot of heavy wear. I am sorry that you were disappointed with this purchase, don't give up on Or Paz though. They make beautiful jewelry. Mention your problem with the Roman glass on Danny's website or facebook page so he is sure to find it. Not sure that ALL vendors read our comments.

Re: Roman Glass Jewlery Question

I ordered the Or Paz rectangle roman glass ring J284371 and I absolutely love it!! It's so pretty!! and the history behind it is just wow! 2000 yrs old! I haven't noticed the patina falling off ....yet. I have ""accidentally"" got it wet a couple of times but immediately dried it off.

In the past I also ordered OritSchatman J154254 Desert Rose Band ring and you can't get those wet either. I have had it for a few years and its one of my favorite rings to wear. Its alil bothersome to ""remember"" to take your ring off before you wash your hands thou. It has gotten wet a few times as well but still as pretty as ever.

I also got the J286124 Or Paz lace ring for Mother's Day. I love that one too! Smiley Happy

Never buy Roman glass items in rings or bracelets--too delicate to last.

I couldn't care less about romance cards. I pitch them unread. I can't believe anyone expects a ring not to get wet. Kids, cooking, cleaning, rain - the possibilities are endless.

Re: Roman Glass Jewlery Question

I have a roman glass ring in a different style, Lotus, and have the same problem. It's too late to return it so I wear it for short outings and just try to enjoy it before it crumbles:/

Re: Roman Glass Jewlery Question

I have a beautiful Roman glass brooch purchased from the Museum Company store 15 or 20 years ago. I was instructed never to get water on it, and I've been careful not to. It has held up very well. No flaking. Of course, a brooch probably gets less bumping and hard wear than a ring or bracelet.......

Then you'd better pass on Roman glass! It is a beautiful and interesting ancient material. I love the Roman glass brooch I own and have worn it many times -- not for "cooking, cleaning, or rain", to be sure. You do have to understand that you can't get it wet and take care not to do so! I wouldn't want a whole wardrobe of something so fragile, but I've enjoyed the one piece I have.

??? I wouldn't call a Roman glass ring an "everyday" ring.

Re: Roman Glass Jewlery Question

I was not aware of this either. I have a pendant but have not worn it more than a few times. They should not even be making jewelry out of this material if it's going to flake.
