I question whether anyone would return a ring that had been sized. It costs money to have rings sized.

Hi, ennui1. I'm not sure if it's the norm or not, but my local jeweler will resize gold and silver rings for around $15, and they do an excellent job.

I paid $35 about eight years ago to have a silver ring resized. I went back to the same place last week and it was nearly $70 (for one ring). He did a great job, and no one else round here will do silver rings, so I was happy to pay it. I'd love to find someone who resizes silver rings for $15. I've got at least a dozen I'd like taken down a quarter size.

Clover29, it's nice that there's someone in your area that will size silverSmiley Happy From what I've gathered, that's not always the case. My local jeweler has a small establishment, in an older neighborhood, and I think he's glad for the business, but he sure takes his timeSmiley Wink

Re: Returning an altered item.

It would never occur to me to return an item that I had altered. No wonder QVC prices are high. We're all paying more because of the customers who do stuff like that.

Re: Returning an altered item.

People will do whatever =- but my personal values say that's dishonest and that's what drives prices up and eventually - they will no longer accept returns of that nature --take Costco - for example --when I worked there - the things people returned were not to be believed - stained old mattresses - 2 years old - believe it or not - TV's purchased to watch Super Bowl and then returned a week later - cakes eaten down to the last slice - it's unbelievable --also that's why Costco had to limit their electronic return policy to 90 days - because people would bring backs their TV's a year or 2 later and then buy another one (to upgrade at Costco's expense)- To me that's totally dishonest!

Re: Returning an altered item.

A customer rep told me to always mark a return defective especially if I have used it. They don't get re-sold then as opposed to didn't like or changed mind or the other options on the return pack slip.

Size down, correct? I'm guessing they aren't sizing up, and adding more gold.

I agree with the OP too. I've also read reviews where some people say something was too big but they would try to shrink it and if that didn't work they would return it. I don't think that is right either - but maybe it is just me.

It's not just you. I agree with you.

Re: Returning an altered item.

I used to work with a woman who had all her clothes tailored, even jeans!

She paid $30/pair to get jeans tailored and then returned them...I could never figure out why she did that (except she was a compulsive shopper and returner!)

If I take the tags off, wash and wear it, I consider it mine.
