Re: Returning an altered item.

I always wash item according to their instructions right after receiving it. I wear it at least two or three times to make sure seams, zippers and buttons work or stay on. If it wears badly, shrinks or pills or such I will return it. I take everything on a test drive.

QVC has always said you can return any item for any reason-so go for it! I would certainly not tell anyone that I altered an item and then send it back. One of my friends has been exchanging pants for a new size on QVC for years-she cuts the tag out-orders the pants in the size she wants and then sends the old, tagless pants back-no one has ever said a word to her about it!

Yeah, but what about the next customer who receives those pants? And if QVC decides not to reship those pants, they take a loss, driving up the price, for the rest of us.

I agree!! I would be ticked if I got those pants ... to cut the tag out and send back old pants (because they apparently don't fit anymore) is quite tacky!!

That is plain dishonest . And you want her as a friend? Why would you want a dishonest person as a friend?

Re: Returning an altered item.

I do not wear anything unless I wash it first and have returned things because they shrank, ripped or pilled despite my following washing instructions. Of course, I would never alter something and send it back.

Re: Returning an altered item.

My opinion is if you wore it, washed it, following the washing instructions, and it didn't come out of the washer the way it went in (minus the dirt), and your 30 days are not up, why not return it? I purchased a Susan Graver top several years ago, and when I washed it, some of the sequins came off. Called CS, told then what happened, and they told me to return it, which I did. It was within the 30 day return period. Of course, if clothing, jewelry, etc. has been altered in any way from the original, it should not be returned. nor should a customer have the ability to return it.
