I've been staring at my owl (in it's plastic baggie) while watching the JBK jewelry show. I am feeling shallow and petty and guilty for rejecting my little owl because of it's marks. this is exactly how I ended up with 4 LIVE birds - I take in the orphaned and injured.

I feel that way in discount stores. I get the urge to "rescue" things.

Give it a couple of days. I suspect it will grow on you. Wink

Besides, real owls are kind of speckle-y.

LOL - I'm the same way! I couldn't see your original picture, so I started reading the posts. I thought - for sure, I would send it back. Then I saw your cute little guy. First of all, I wish so much I'd just gone ahead and gotten one! (See my post under CL's thread). I have quite a bit of picture jasper and none of it has "spots" in it. All of my pieces have various lines and coloring throughout. But he's so adorable! I honestly don't know what I'd do. If you sent him back, QVC would probably send you another one that has been returned. If I were you, I'd think about calling Lawrence and ask his advice. It wouldn't hurt to hear what he has to say, and you wouldn't be committed to returning him or keeping him! Just maybe he would offer to replace the stone (for a small fee of course) and you'd still have your original owl! Smile

All they have to do is replace the stone and you would be giving them a stone - so it probably won't cost much --but if not, your little guy is still plenty cute. It's like matrix in your turquoise - that's the turquoise I like the best!!

I saw the Jasper beads - very nice - then remembered about 2 years ago I bought a Jasper necklace that had small turquoise beads on it - I got it out and it is to "die" for - that little guy will go with anything - so adorable!!

I gave myself a reality check last night and the little owl is going back to QVC. The owl cost me $109 and if I was a devoted owl collector, I would have considered spending additional money to send the owl to New Mexico for a replacement jasper cabochon. the silverwork on the owl is very well done and I'm sure there is someone out there on waitlist who won't mind the cluster of speckles.

There are three more pieces on the way home to me. The Jody Naranjo leather charm bracelet and Kenneth Johnson's shield earrings and plaque necklace. I'm going to watch the presentation of this little beauty on clearance Wink

Good morning, bird mama...just read your post. Don't feel bad/guilty about returning the owl. You do what feels right for you. I enjoyed the picture jasper photo further up in the thread. As a turquoise enthusiast (ANY TURQUOISE) I haven't paid all that much attention in the past to other stones, but that has changed. I found the bead necklace to the Sedona Sunrise pendant on another site and here it is looking lovely in all those rich red, brown, and golden tones.

Re: Your Jody Naranja item: I'm sure you will love her bracelet. It is more delicate than her pendant which is dyamite. Had to return my Jody bracelet because it was too tight even though it was sold as a large. I don't think it was - I couldn't fasten it around my wrist. I do have a large wrist (8" for bangles and bracelets have to be at least 7-1/2") and it is therefore always something of a gamble. Contemplating the ring but that will have to wait. Smile Enjoy all your goodies!

This necklace is pretty. It's 69.99, 24 inches. Can't tell if that's a good price.

Bird Mama - you did the right thing IMHO- sooner or later - another one will show up - I have acquired many pieces even years later that I never thought I'd find --there is always another lovely piece to grab your interest anyhow -- I got the FC Shield piece when I got my Owl and to me that is the piece to have - the best deal out there - I love it - especially on my Native Pearls - great piece to wear long too - such wonderful symbolism!!

Haca - when the JN charm bracelet came out I ordered what I thought was the correct size too and had to return it because it was too small - - it was sold out so I don't own one yet - not sure if 'm going to go that route now even though it is certainly lovely - a little worried about the magnetic closing on a bracelet - let me know if it gives you any problems - I did receive the JN ring though and it is spectacular and well made - larger than it looks in the picture - I have really small hands so it goes to my knuckle but I love it anyway!!

What can I say ladies - so many wonderful pieces - so little money - LOL!!
