LOL! I know what you mean though as far as the striations. I purchased a reversible pendant several years ago from QVC and it was the picture jasper with turquoise on one size and mother of pearl on the other. I didn't care for the black striations at first, but didn't know what I would get if I exchanged so I decided to keep it. I figured it was part of the "beauty" of the jasper. I haven't worn it much though as it still bothers me. So, if you don't love it now, you probably won't wear it because those black marks will always bother you. I would try to exchange with a note saying to please pick you out a piece with no/very little black striations. It doesn't hurt to give it a try. If you don't love it, you won't wear it!
