Rarities Clarity Enhanced TSV

What do you think of the TSV ring that will be tonight's TSV on the other channel (314749) being sold for $299.95? I read on Google that "clarity enhanced" is a treatment done to lesser quality stones, in this case either ruby or sapphire, with white zircon. It is a pretty middle finger ring but I don't think it's worth $300...

I do like the black rhodium setting though...

Re: Rarities Clarity Enhanced TSV

"Clarity enhanced" started with diamonds.

For rubies:

It became apparent that this treatment was going to be very significant to the industry (Roskin, 2004).The starting material was very low quality, translucent-to-opaque, non-gem rough from Madagascar(Pardieu, 2005). By a process that involved low-temperature heating, cleaning in an acid bath, and then filling with a high-lead-content glass, this non-gem corundum was transformed into transparent, facetable material (figure 17). This made available huge amounts of treated rubies that were usually sold at very low prices.

Hello valley... I think it all comes down to budget and preference. Naturally, clarity enhanced gems are budget friendly because they are not as valuable as lesser included/untreated gems. I do believe they require special care (especially if they're lead filled), so be sure to look into that if you decide to purchase. (I think the main thing is avoiding ultrasonic cleaners.) Rubies are one of the most expensive gems on earth, so these types of treatments make them much more accessible to the average person. As long as the treatments are properly disclosed and the price is right, I try to refrain from being too critical about these types of treated gems. Because some people really enjoy shopping them. So I say, if you like that ring, go for it and enjoy!

AliJoi!!!! Long time no see!!! I haven't been around much, but came to the forums this morning to see the "word on the street" about this TS as it has me curious. Love your response. Rubies or sapphires of this coloring that were not clarity enhanced would be incredibly expensive. I don't really know how to value this TS or clarity enhanced stones in general, but I do know that this is a great color within reach! I love both colors of this ring, I am tempted {#emotions_dlg.devil2}

I think everything from this woman is of poor quality and way overpriced.

She is quite a good saleswoman (like Diane Gilman!) but everything I have purchased from her line I have returned.

It wasn't always that way. I remember some of her gold pieces.

Right now much of the shopping channel jewelry is way overpriced and of uneven quality.

Most jewelry that the average person can afford has treated gemstones. Especially rubies and sapphires. I was familiar with gas filled rubies from JTV and dyed sapphires from Chuck and Samuel B.

Pretty much sums it up while online jewelry shopping, especially with the TV shopping network market. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}

Amazing how quickly things go downhill for the consumer!

I think she has good design sense and there is a lot of variety in her line. I just do not like the cheap metals in the line today. It is eclectic. But not what it used to be.
