RIPKANISTAS Let's DISCUSS--June 2015 Judith Ripka visit--what are you getting/interested in?... :)

RIPKANISTAS

Well, sorry that I'm a bit behind the eight ball here.  Of course, it is this @#$%%  new board which has been down every time I tried to post.  I cannot believe the Q is paying to mess up the good thing they had going because this forum and all the sub-boards drove so much traffic to the website.  AND HELLO Q: TRAFFIC MEANS SALES AND BUSINESS!

I've been through two other board re-dos since 2008 and this one is completely ridiculous and idiotic.  Supremely unprofessional!  So depressing that the sub-forums are missing which makes the whole system disorganized.

I get that TPTB may have wanted to stop the trolls who would drive old threads up to the top on very infrequent weekends and add avatars, but now the system looks very Middle School.

Also, the journalist in me dislikes that some faceless computer person would remove recent posts, making the system disjointed and prevent users from having continuity via the "Recent Activity" function.  They also fabricated board join dates and post counts, which is completely disrespectful of a poster's online identity.  Sort of like changing someone's birthdate without their OK or rolling back your vehicle odometer just because they could.

Sure, the Q owns the boards and they can do what they wish.  But the Q's existance depends solely upon us.  They should do everything within their power to make the customer happy!

End of rant (it has been gathering steam ever since my June all review thread disappeared, as well as Recent Activity, and the fabricated Join Date and Post Count).

JR visit:  We have a bit of a dis-jointed schedule here:  Thursday 11PM-Midnight Eastern Standard Time (8-9PM Pacific Standard Time); Friday 11AM-Noon EST (8-9AM PST) and TUESDAY, JUNE 23 1-2PM EST (10-11AM PST).

Please share what pieces have tickled your fancy, did the massive E/Ps on non-clearance inspire you?  Also, what do you think of the board changes and what's up in your own world off the board?  Lots to talk about Ripkanistas!  Thanks~Peach

Did anyone get the open ring with DMQ heart in the center in sterling or clad?  They were last night's OTO.  Interestingly, I just left mine in my cart and it has remained there at the OTO price (which is a -$5 discount) overnight.  Never had that happen before!  ~Peach

PS~Miss everyone...

I bought the verona bracelet that was discounted at $57 dollars. Somewhere around that price. I love it even though it has so so reviews. I have an old Spanish coin from 1748 that I'm using as a charm on it. Also I bought the amethyst three stone ring. You know the gemstone rings they've had on the last couple shows. I loved it so much in blue topaz, I decided to try the amethyt. It's a keeper. But it's not the color I was expecting. I think they must have really good lighting in the studio. This material must be Brazilian and not Zambian (as it looked on T.V.). No red or blue flashes. A nice medium bright but not washed out purple lilac with some pink flahses in the sun light. Still I do like it and have been wearing it.

What irritates me the most is that I am only interested in a couple of subjects on this forum.  I do not want to wade through other subjects to read information on possible purchases.  Please QVC bring back the sub forums.

Kitty987, I have one of the Verona pieces myself, a clad necklace, and think it is OK.  I got a great price on it and with your fairly-priced bracelet (at $57-ish), it is hard to go wrong.  Love your old Spanish coin!  Now that's the way to do it--attaching to the bracelet.  I'm a big fan of coin jewelry myself and have a fair collection but also try to add to it during travels.

Interesting that you share the difference in Amethyst coloring between Brazilian and Zambian.  I'm betting the Brazilian is less expensive than the Zambian, lol!  Thanks for sharing your interesting thoughts!  Take care~Peach

Culebra, I couldn't possibly agree more (and no, I don't feel the need to "heart" it, lol--are we all in Middle School?).  The Q forums, with a few exceptions, are adult-oriented and I feel we don't need to waste our time on Facebook-style "isms."

Like you said, wading through all of the other subjects to find what we used to be able to go directly to with sub forums is irritating.  Time is valuable.

The Q had such a good thing going with those posting to those lurking (and all buying at some point)  was often 100 lurking-to-one poster, which meant impressive traffic numbers.  No worries about this now.  There's no excuse for the new board eliminating all the sub-boards and turning off posters who drive traffic and share valuable info.

Thanks for posting and hope all is OK with you.  It is over 100 degrees here already in SoCal which usually doesn't start until the end of July.  So, we're roasting!  ~Peach

Hi Peach, I'm with you on the journalist perspective, as you know.  Glad to see you back and in fine form!

I bought the heart ring, which finally came back in stock in emerald -- can't wait to receive it!  This completes my suite of the heart ring, which I have in diamonique, pink spinel, ruby and sapphire.

Hope you are well and all goes well with your DH's projects!

Re: RIPKANISTAS Let's DISCUSS--June 2015 Judith Ripka visit--what are you getting/interested in?...

Hi LuckyPeach and Ripkanistas, I am late to the party (again).  I am not loving the new forum at all.  I finally filled out an online survey about the QVC website because I am so disappointed that there are so few videos and no Ripka sub-forum.

I loved the heart magnetic leather necklace.  The $299 price tag kept it on my wish list instead of being delivered (and I do own the original which inspired this one).  About the time I'd get done paying for the item on easy pay, it "might" be marked down.  I do think price per wearing on this piece could "comp" out ..... but $299 is pretty steep.

I purchased several items from the clearance when they had the sale price and easy pays 10 days ago or so.  I finally picked up the ice cube bracelet (gorgeous), the former TSV studs (diamonique & light blue topaz) with jackets and an over-the-top large diamonique ring to go with the ice cube bracelet.  All three items are keepers.

I hope you are feeling better, LuckyPeach.

SammyCat1, Congrats on completing your heart ring collection.  It is always fun to snag that final piece.

Kitty, sounds like you purchased some lovely items.

Had a lot going on and wanted to take a break from the board changes to see if they fixed anything.

UNFORTUNATELY, it looks like nothing has changed!  Smiley Sad

On the positive side, our dear Beth is on right now and she just keeps better and better with her descriptions.  She is a real asset to the Judith Ripka organization and I always enjoy seeing her (after Judith herself, of course).  I think she deserves a raise!!

I also wanted to say that I love how Beth accessorizes with her various glasses and the colors.

RIPKANISTAS, do you feel like me--a real boost when a JR show is on?  I just received some expensive auto repair news and coming home to see the show is a real upper!  I mean what would you rather think about, replacing a catalytic converter or a beautiful JR jewel?
