I am a true pearl lover and own many most of which are from Honora!!   I am happy with all.   When watching the presentation of  ringed pearls I just can't see any beauty in them!  They show so many darling pieces that would be good for my granddaughters, nieces etc., but they are mostly with rings!  These are inferior pearls in my opinion and therefore the low price!  Any opinions?

I also don't care for the ringed pearls.  I bought some years ago, a 3 strand of ringed pearls scattered on a fishing line sort of thing (Honora).  The pearls looked like they were spray painted (the dye puddled in the rings of the pearls) and they eventually came loose on the fishing line. It was an unwearable piece of krap.

I see nothing wrong with giving them as gifts to young girls knowing they are costume jewelry, not fine pearls.

Quite obvious the vendor and QVC feel the same way.   If they were worth more because of quality they would charge accordingly.

I feel the same way, they look like seconds to me, not interested in owning any.

I have been a pearl lover for some 35 years.  When I got my first "real" job, I bought an 24" strand of Mikimoto pearls (the jewelry store sent it back to Mikomoto to get it shortened to the exact length I wanted--they took out 6 pearls I think).  A few years later, I got an 18" strand on a great sale.  I also have three pair of pearl earrings from them.  But good pearls are really expensive--especially now.  I couldn't afford those strands at today's prices I guess.

Recently I got a long and a short strand of really big ringed pearls at a botique in the south.  They are beautiful.  The lustre is wonderful, they are slightly misshapen but read "round" on.  I wear them together wrapped as a three-strand or the long one as a two strand, wrapped.  They are beautiful and I always get compliments.  And I wear them quite a bit.  I also have some coin pearls and black pearls, and a pastel and black and gold strands I've bought over the years (some from Ross Simon's 4th of July sale one year!).

There are lots of options in pearl jewelry today and that's good.  It allows lots of people to enjoy something that is beautiful and unique.  So I won't talk them down at all!

I'm conflicted about how I feel about ringed pearls. I really disliked them until about two years ago when I bought a 36" bronze pearl necklace from Honora ( my first bronze piece as well). It's absolutely beautiful and the gold bronze color has held up and still matches my 14K gold pieces. I've worn it doubled and long during the Holidays and it looked very stunning on.

So, I think it depends on the piece and the pearls in question. I've seen some that look really bad but not the case with my necklace.

Since pearls are my birthstone I have quite a collection and I added that necklace, bracelet and earrings set that was a TSV a while back in the pink color. BEAUTIFUL!!!! And for some reason the rings seem to add a little something extra to the look of the pearls. I've worn the set 4 times since receiving and compliments every single time. Never met a pearl I didn't like!Woman Wink

Ringed pearls are not on my wish list.  I do not own a lot of pearls, just two sets of Akoya's which appear to be smooth and round.

If someone wants to buy ringed I have no criticism.  Everyone is entitled to their own taste.

Do the math.
