RETURNING AFFINITY DIAMOND EARRINGS

I was so excited to receive my cushion cut, pave diamond earrings. After 2 months, they no longer sparkle. I won professional sonic cleaning machine for my jewelry business...didn’t bring back the shine. My Diamonique earrings look better. Back they go! Yet another return....called CS, not paying shipping. Defective.

I like diamonique better than real for sparkle. The flawless stone is always more brilliant. What do you think happened to ruin the diamonds? It is too bad that the earrings have to go back but great that qvc has good return service.I am surprised that you don't make your own.I have seen some of your pieces that you posted and they are beautiful.

@dex  Thank you. I do work w/ other stones but diamonds require special techniques, prong settings different are different, soldering not the same and would like to have GIA to purchase them for myself or to sell.

I think inferior stones were used and the pave stones were not set flush to the bottom of the setting allowing dust, etc. to get imbedded under the stones where I can’t get to them (sonic cleaner either) to clean under the stones.

@Shanus wow you almost have to be a pro when choosing jewelry if you want it to have a lifetime of beauty.

@dex. I have real diamond studs, but there are times it’s safer to wear ones that cost only $80. I got what I paid for. My real ones are insured. Will wear those when home  or Diamonique when traveling.

Wow, I am really disappointed hearing this!  Affinity used to produce wonderful diamond products!  I bought their first "cluster" diamond earrings and they still look gorgeous.  I have one of the first Affinity anniversary rings that I never take off except to clean and it doen't require cleaning often.  I'm shocked to read this and sad as well, very disappointing to hear.....

@dex  That’s why I never spend more than $200 for jewelry online. 😉

@Shanus I have bought diamonds that seem to have lost their sparkle over time but I never thought that the setting could be the problem.I always thought it was the quality of the stone that wasn't good.

@dex  Most often it is the stone and can be professionally cleaned if just really dirty. If single stone, sometimes the diamond sits too low in the setting not allowing any light to come through underneath. In the case of mine (pave stones), they should be set tightly against the flat part of the setting to not allow dirt to accumulate. Pave means paved in French....as in close together, no spaces.

@Shanus I was thinking about having my better diamonds redone but I wonder how you know who to trust with that. They could replace mine with something of less value and I wouldn't know.
