Question about JR clipon earrings

Good evening Ladies, I have been looking at some JR clipon earrings for a bit and finally bought a pair on clearance. I like the look and how they can be adjusted on the earlobe but they hurt my ears terribly. Should that happen or did I get a pair that is too tight ? Is there a way to wear them and not hurt my ears ? Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks
