Is this one stone that fused together underground or ....well how was it formed like this? Is it real, is it discovered like this where it looks like 2 stones lumped together?

Re: Question about Ametrine

[ Edited ]

The stone is all natural quartz. A single ametrine gem is cut from one single piece of quartz. This bi-colored stone is rare in nature so quartz from a specific mine in Bolivia is treated to give it the two colors you see. It is not two stones lumped together. It is a single stone treated to display two colors.

As far as I know there is only one mine, in Bolivia, that produces ametrine.

It's really eye catching isn't it, do you have any? Thanks for clearing all that up. I've been looking at it on JTV and it's calling out to me, I think I want some. I would prefer one in a gold setting but it's not in the budget this month nor next or the one after that either. LOL guess I can get it in silver.

I'm glad I could help you. I do not own any ametrine @gulf coast girl. I have watched many jewelry shows that have had it featured though and it is very beautiful. Have you checked out  ShopLC dot com? From what I saw, there are many rings and a couple in white gold, no yellow gold that I could see. Prices of the silver rings are quite attractive.

Hope you find something you like.Woman Happy

The ring I purchased came from QVC. They called it sunrise ametrine.

Sounds very nice @esmeraldagooch. What cut is the stone in your ring? If I were to buy one, I think a step-cut  elongated octagon would be beautiful.

I have one piece that is a rather chunky, (as opposed to a slender) emerald cut ametrine that I got about 20 years ago at a local jewelers.  I love two-colored stones-- also admire

watermelon quartz...

Coincidently my two grandchildren's birthstones are amethyst and citrine. I gave their mother a beautiful ametrine pendent necklace from the LC a few years ago for her birthday, she loved it.
