Two-thousand-sixteen saw the cancellation of California Gold Rush after 28 years, Big Bonanza Silver Day after 27, and Klondike Gold Rush after 28. Lastly, 17 years after being launched as Creede Mine Silver Strike at Midnight, October 2nd, 1999, QVC cancels the long-established jewelry event, wrapping up a combined one hundred years exactly of jewelry events celebrating the landmark mining disoveries that shaped America, and thus, QVC.
Jewelry isn't QVC's greatest category any longer, yet there was a time when over a hundred new items - over twenty million dollars-worth would be presented all day October 2nd. This year, not a single hour a silver jewelry is scheduled on Sunday, October 2nd, 2016, yet a full seven hours of Serta will feature yet another bedding or mattress Today's Special Value.
QVC and the QVC hosts for years told customers that October 2nd was Creede Silver Silver Strike, yet how does QVC show loyalty to those customers in 2016? Not by continuing their decades-long traditions of jewelry events yet with reduced hours to reflect their current inventory, but cancelling them outright without a formal announcement or apology! How does it make those feel who have a connection to these events, as soon as one ending, anticipating the next a year later?
October 2nd to me is a celebration of Nicholas Creede's discovery of the last great silver boom of the Old West, and more importantly, the silver event I looked forward to watching for 24-hours every year. If QVC isn't going to celebrate any longer, I have no choice but to turn QVC off and celebrate on my own. Here's to 41 days until my celebration of my favorite day of the year, October 2nd, the date of the once great, and now late, Creede Silver Strike.

Don't cry for Creede; silver mining is alive and well there. They're doing just fine. I go that way periodically and have seen the activity.
QVC apparently wants to establish itself as the infomercial shopping channel, apparently contracting to lease it's hosts and facilities out to the highest bidder. I'm sad for the capable young hosts who took jobs there hoping for a fulfilling career only to find themselves principals in this sleezy method of selling. So be it, we'll just have to take our business elsewhere. Most of us are unwilling to sit and watch endless, mind-numbing hours of some product in which we have absolutely no interest. We got a big dose of that today with Vitamix.
I've already changed my QVC viewing habits to completely eliminate week-end watching and limiting my weekday viewing to a few fashion shows. I no longer have it on as "background" noise as I did for years. Things change, sometimes for the worse. Time to move on.

Agree totally, QVC is becoming less and less of a shopping choice for me, with some fashion exceptions.
I used to love the gold and gem shows, now mostly gone, or too expensive for me.
Even as background noise it doesn't work for me, too repetitive.
The tsvs are repeated several times in a few months ( or so it seems to me). The oto's are no longer great deals.
Between the very significant price increases in clothing, much less variety in category of goods, the shipping costs, the hard sell of hosts QVC is becoming less and less about "quality, value and convenience."

This is not the QVC you are looking for

I remember when QVC proudly announced they were the largest gold retailer in the world. And remember the four hours of silver every Sunday morning? Those days are clearly gone. When our country went through the recession of several years ago, QVC sensibly stopped selling higher-end jewelry. However, that turn toward selling cheaper products and then going toward infomercial presentations might be profitable in the short term, but I wonder whether it makes sense long term. I cannot imagine attracting new viewers by spending an hour on a vacuum cleaner or a bed or a puffy chair.

Over the last 2 years, the only time I watched Q was on the gold days. I quit watching other shows when Q started showing the same dozen or so products over and over and over. Needless to say, I haven't tuned in to Q at all this year.
I check online occasionally to look for a good deal or two. I've ordered just 1 item this year. I used to order a LOT. No more.

Jewelry sales must be low this year on the Q.....

I have to agree....i could understand cutting alot of the gold shows in the recent past because of the price of gold...but the silver shows i thought at that point could flourish. The thing is......instead they went to gold dipped bold pieces (overpriced) and designer pieces that had outrageous prices.....................they could have done many silver offerings...in gemstones, chains, different styles....but instead went to bold, designer silver offerings with high prices that is hard for the average person to afford.....example JR and others. I am sure there are viewers like myself who don't lean toward BIG, BOLD,
DESIGNER pieces......everyday, gemstone, links, in silver i believe would sell and make profit......but as one poster said......they have limited jewelry offerings in exchange for Dysons, Serta, Make up, Shoes & Computers......

Those of us who like and want to purchase jewelry go to other channels to do it, which I've been doing for more than a few years now. I always enjoyed watching the Creede and other silver shows. Some good things never seem to stay the same, do they?

"QVC has become the Infomercial Channel".
That's it, exactly. I'm waiting for "BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!" and
"CALL NOW AND WE'LL INCLUDE THIS BUT ONLY IF YOU CALL NOW!" lines to be spoken and when THAT happens....I'm outta here.
Shame what's happened to them. There IS an infomercial channel a few numbers up from my QVC channel and sometimes, you can't really tell the difference........
