Problems getting links removed

Just received my white watch this morning and have been running around our local jewelry stores trying to get some links removed. 2 of the jewelers wouldn't even touch a ceramic watch and the third wanted $15/side to remove links. I needed at least 2 removed from the small so that would be $30!! I walked out. So much for being able to remove them yourself or a jeweler can remove them no problems! The watch is beautiful but if I'm going to have all these problems so I can wear it, I will be returning it. I'm going out of town tomorrow to a bigger city and will give it one more go there. Keeping my fingers crossed.
