Price of Gold?

What's going on with the price of gold? It's getting close to where it was a year ago and just about where it was in Dec 2011! What are your thoughts - is this a trend or just a "selling" phase with higher prices coming? If it is a long term trend then I can't wait for the prices of 14k/18k jewelry to come down (yeah, right, who am I kidding?)!
