Colleen Lopez is on HSN with her TS Tanzanite jewelry set. Necklace and earrings in sterling silver. Very pretty set, reasonably priced, I'm not buying though as I have some beautiful pieces of Tanzanite from years ago when it first became popular. They are gaurenteeing delivery by Christmas eve and it's free shipping! She is on 2-4 and 7-9 today, jewelry day

After multiple disappointments, I've given up on Colleen's jewelry. It looks great on TV using their magnifying cameras but when you get it home, both the pieces and the stones are much smaller than expected. Sometimes you can hardly see the tiny stones.

This tanzi looks very light, meaning not good color saturation at all. Good quality tanzi is much deeper tones than this.

@Kachina624 I understand what you are saying. I haven't always been extremely happy with her lines, clothing and jewelry. I just thought it was a pretty set and might be nice for someone who doesn't own any of these particular stones as they can be quite expensive. I have some nice Tanzanite already but if I didn't I would give it a try.

There was a time when CL sold some pretty nice jewelry. It has deteriorated to a point that I would be ashamed to gush over such sub par trinkets.

I have to laugh everytime tanzanite is sold on Q or Hsn. They keep saying how there is only one place to mine and it is running out...that was years ago...LOL.
Same for the Turquoise Sleeping Beauty. I have a hard time believing any of these channels can sell truely quality stones...I would never purchase this way.

Exactly. Tanzi should be DARK blue and purple. The darker the better. Really good ones have the red flash. The dark colors produce when you flash it. Colored gems are all about color. That's the way prices are dictated. Dark Tanzi should start in the $1,00.00 range. Other factor is the metal (14K,18K platinum and diamond accents) You see Tanzanites all over the place. Every shopping channel, every jewelry store. It's considered an exotic stone. But it's been around for a long time now. I don't know about resale value. Because it's everywhere in the market place. Ruby/Sapphire & Emeralds gain in value. Paraiba (the new big exotic in the market) is mega expensive. I've seen it in 6 figures. But again it depends on the saturation of color. I've seen as low as $1,200.00 and it looks it. it's a soft stone by the way. I would avoid having Tanzi on a ring. Better as a pendant or earrings. That stone will crack if you hit it hard enough..

Some dark Tanzanite stones look so much like sapphires. I prefer Tanzanite to be more deep periwinkle. If I want a dark blue stone I'd buy a blue sapphire. It's more durable.
