My goodness you are good. Only put earrings on for parties or something special. It always seems like the holes are closing.... I don't thinks so. They are harder to see and find and the skin is softer. I don't want a thicker post to drag and make a larger opening. Clip ons hurt. Can you find a safe pair to sleep in?
I usually don't have a problem finding the piercings in my lobes. It's just hard to push the posts through them. Yes, I think I need to find some comfortable 'sleeping earrings' to wear at night. Thanks for the suggestion.

@SilleeMee I had this exact thing happen to me but in only one ear. Weird. If I did not wear earrings 24 hours a day I could only get an earring in half way. I solved the problem by buying small hoops and wearing them all the time. I used to take earrings out to sleep now I sleep in earrings.

Thank you. I'm going to find my tiny little hoops and try wearing them at night. Probably leave them on all the time or until I want to wear a different pair.

I'm almost never without earrings in my ears. Every couple of weeks I remove my studs and put them in my jewelry cleaner, but when they are out I put in either gold hoops or a smaller set of studs.

When I was younger I kept a pair of studs on 24/7. But then, as I got older, the studs started bothering me in my sleep so off they came at the end of the day before bedtime. But I would still love to wear studs all the time. Just can't anymore.

Yes, I've been trying to do that. It's a bit painful to push the thicker posts in and then there's the occasional bleeding. But it's one solution. Thanks.
@SilleeMee Your holes are "raw" inside. Reason for closing.
Only wear 14k, 18k, 24k GOLD studs while healing.
Put vaseline on the stud part & turn the studs a few times a day. Do not take studs off for 2 weeks.
Test your holes after 2 weeks
Vaseline has healing properties.
My personal opinion: After your holes heal, only wear pure gold or pure silver earrings.
OLD SCHOOL.......
Pick a straw off a straw broom. Each straw about 1/2 inch.
Burn each END.
Dip whole straw in vaseline.
Put through hole
Turn straw a few times a day for 2 weeks.

Just a few of my stud earrings are 14k gold. But I'm not wearing those b/c they have stones that I don't want to lose. But I get it. Gold is a good option for problematic piercings. Right now I'm sticking with stainless steel hoops. No worries with that and it's hypoallergenic. I can't wear studs while sleeping. They poke me.
I have a small blunt needle that I use to push through my piercings using thread soaked in alcohol to clean them out. Works very well.

I've seen " flat back" studs online - better for sleeping. I can't stand to sleep with earrings on. I've had to recently as I has third piercings done in my earlobes.

I think I tried to put a pair of those flat-back studs on before. They were too difficult for me to get them on so I gave up. But those would be a good option to wear while sleeping. Thanks.

@SilleeMee , I'm so glad you asked this question. I have the same problem. All is fine with my right ear but not so good with the left one. I have a keloid in the left ear lobe and I think that may be my problem.
I sometimes can put the stud in the back side and then push it to the front side. It sometimes helps open up the hole. Mine bleeds a little too.
You received a lot of good suggestions here and I'm going to try some of them. I'm going to use the rubbing alcohol suggestion and also the suggestion to try sleeping while wearing a small pair of studs in my ears at night for at least a few days.
Good luck to you. Keep us posted.
