Fire Opals?

I love opals but I have always heard that opals are bad luck if they are not your birthstone. Being superstitious and Irish I have never owned one. But I have been tempted. Maybe one day I'll purchase  some opals.

@50Mickey    I have quite a few of them and things have worked out well for me.  My birthstone is an Alexanderite or pearl.

I think you'd be safe with one.

The bad luck thing about opals came out of a big diamond house back some time ago and the purpose was to instill fear of owning opals so that people would buy diamonds instead. That's all it was...a sales tactic.

Love opals but none of these call out to me. Opals are very fragile and crack/chip easily so pendants are probably safest for long term wear.

@fthunt @Kachina624   I am not sure, as DH took the pic, while I was off looking at something else.  He thinks he remembers seeing a sign that said Australian opals.  
He is doing good being there with me, so I will give him a break.  Lol

@50Mickey   I heard the same thing, but my mother bought me an opal ring, so I feel that broke the superstition.  I am a December baby.

Just beautiful @Pezzie!. I would love to have them!  A friend of mine has a ring with a large marquise shape opal, and I love it so much!  Wish I had something like that.
