@BirkiLady  for what my two cents is worth, you will do better with US Gold Buyers.  I went to the jewelry store about 11 years ago and they were a pain to deal with and very stingy.  I was skeptical about sending my gold out but it had so many great reviews especially by @SharkE.  It was so easy putting everything in a bag and boxed it up to take it to Fed Ex.  Within two days I got a phone call with the offer which was amazing!  I am going to dig up more things to sell. LOL

@SharkE  Ahh, you are so sweet in spite of those snarky comments! Of course your apology is accepted. It wasn't really necessary. Just wanted you to realize my question was asked in earnest 'cause I've never done it. About to look up the place you suggested after reading other's comments, too. I do appreciate your suggestions.

I went through my jewelry box last night and have a large tupperware container of earrings, bracelets, necklaces, gold rings (without stones), rings with stones with no longer appeal to me at all,  and a lot of broken things or pieces from jewelry changes that I had my jeweler return to me. I'm overwhelmed at the amount so far. Haven't been to my safe deposit box yet. But this is a heck of a beginning.

Wish I had a scale to weigh it before going to my jewelers or checking with your Gold place. Perhaps a friend may have a good one. Smiley Happy

Thanks for the info!

@BirkiLady  I bought a very inexpensive digital scale from Amazon. It weighs in lbs, ounces and grams. If you have a lot of gold I would get one and get a good estimate for yourself as to what you would get from USGB. They give their payouts in ounces and in dwt (1 gram is approx 2/3 dwt).

@froggy  What a great idea! Thanks for the recommendation. Smiley Very Happy

ETA: What percentage does USGB take? I've never asked before but should have. Seems like I'm going into this so blind and uneducated. SMH

Go to their website. They quote what they pay. No additional percentage is taken.

I am very happy with what they offered me.  I can't believe how fast and easy it was.  I had requested it to deposit it in my paypal account but the woman said that PP charges a fee and would be cheaper to send echeck or mail a regular check.  I opted for them to mail it to me.  Thanks again @SharkE for suggesting them

@SharkE I received my check today!! Talk about warp speed.

Thinking of doing this.  It would be my first time.  Trying to fill out  the form for the free express label.  What do you put in the "Declared Value" line?
