New leather-look necklace - if you own this please read!

Hi girls, I just received this piece in the 16 inch for my birthday - but I'm having trouble getting the clasp to lie flat - is it just me? Did I get a bum necklace? Or is that just how it is supposed to be? It is tilting forward slightly. Opinions please!
