I like big hoops because I have a lot of hair. For me, they don't necessarily have to be wide. Regardless, I don't like them heavy.

I have longer hair and I prefer the wider hoop. The thinner hoops get ""lost"" in my hair.

It depends upon many factors.... the amount of hair you have, the shape of your face, your personal style, and how your ears are pierced. Generally, I think thinner hoops look better for anything over 1.25 inches. Some people can wear thicker hoops in big sizes if they have narrow faces and lots of long hair. But for many people the thicker hoops end up sticking out and it's not a good look.
