I am watching the sales schpiel for this bracelet. People are kind of crying calling in , including the vendor. It's kind of unreal to watch. People need to buy a $55 bracelet to be in tune w/ their faith..? The vendor said you can look down and restore your faith like what similarly happened to her. I'm sorry, but, being a Catholic myself, if I feel myself slipping into a personal crises, I go to my church or reflect and say a silent prayer to be in tune w/G** not by wearing a My Saint, My Hero bracelet.

I can't stand to listen to that sentimental drivel, especially in the name of commercialism, so I turned the TV off and left the room.

As my wise Dad would say, don't talk Politics or Religion in public. These are in most cases private subjects for people. I'm surprised that QVC allows this "religious " item, due to the fact QVC cancels all blogs related to politics. All about the money!!

It can represent many things.  If it helps someone, what is wrong with that.  If you choose to feel it's worthless dribble, go to church and say a prayer or two.

Yeah....I really don't get it either. However, if it really moves people in a positive way, then I'm happy for them. It's just not my "cup of tea.".....by a long, long shot.

Re: My Saint, My Hero bracelet

This is an interesting topic.  I happened to see an unattractive ring presented by the vendor with a story about his love for a family member that the ring represented.  I'm sure most people bought it because of the "story" that went with the ring.  No one would ever associate the ring with this feeling unless they had been told the story.  This is pandering to people, but for those who need a symbol of their love I guess it is meaningful.... a harmless indulgence that puts money in the vendor's pocket.  Each of us chooses where to spend our money.  This exemplifies desperation to me, but perhaps a loving thought to the one who buys it.  What makes it interesting is the ring was ugly, but the story probably sold thousands.  Great salesmanship.

Thank you for bringing this up. I just cringe when hosts use this kind of salesmanship. I also hate it when they bring up sick or dead friends or relatives to make a sale. Prayer costs nothing.
