Do you have any Murano jewelry?

I was browsing ETSY, and I found this lovely Milefiori glass necklance.

I sent yesterday a message to the seller asking if its real from Murano and he/she has not replied to me yet.

How can you tell if its real handmade glass beads from Murano and not plastic?

I wanted to post the description that the beads are glass. I’m sorry I am not familiar with Murano glass jewelry. I read the reviews about your necklace and they were positive reviews. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

You can tell glass from plastic by the weight.  Glass is very heavy.  Murano glass is not so valuable that anyone would try to counterfeit it.

I was in Venice last summer and picked up a few pretty pieces of Murano glass and jewelry.  Usually the jewelry is marked with a sticker or tag to guarantee authenticity.

Unfortunately all of this Murano glass jewelry CAN be replicated in glass and has been coming from China for many years at lower budget prices.

People like to buy the Chinese glass beads for pennies and make their own necklaces. It is very popular at the jewelry shows.

The necklace you like on Etsy actually states at the bottom of the description that the necklace was made in California but it does not say where the beads are from. It also does not use the word Murano at all in the description.

My thought is, given the low price, if you like it, buy it, as it is very pretty and colorful and is definitely glass, although probably not from Italy.

Original Murano Glass is expensive. It is considered a luxury art and is not accessible to everyone. However they are artistic works that remain forever and often are also preserved in generation of fans, and Murano glass value is forever.

It is one of the most collected product in the market, worldwide many wealthy people are owners at least of one piece, all wealthy families in Italy have one piece at home or in office, and this is same for many north america italians.
