I have 2 piercings in one ear, and 3 in the other. I usually only fill 2 holes - the higher ones with very small diamond studs + the "earrings of the day" on the lower.
I did have one of those piercings that are towards the top of the ear but I just could not sleep with a stud earring in it and switching out the earring was kinda painful.
Although I liked the look, I let the hole close.

My closed up so all I now have is one in each ear . I let them because I was uncomfortable..

Both, LOL, but I usually wear the same color metal.
I also mostly wear the prominent earring in the first hole, with a smaller one behind it.
But sometimes I do the reverse, which looks kinda cool.

My piercings are not random, they have each represented a milestone in my life. The first piercing was when I was 18 and my Dad didn't believe in piercings so I waited until I was "legal" and did it....
The second piercing was in celebration of my first born son. The third was in celebration of my second born son.
The four was ;the loss of both my parents.
The fifth will be in celebration of entering "old age" .... and the gratitude I have for still being here! :womanlol:
I wear all kinds of different earrings.... just love them! (No other piercings and no tats)....
Yet.
j/k
ITA!
Same here; I've been considering just one small very-meaningful tatt for decades now...
DO IT! You won't be sorry, every time you look at it it'll make you happy.....

You're right as far as having the tatt where I can catch a glimse of it - and all year-round.

No regrets from me..I only have two in each ear. I normally wear diamond studs in my second piercing and only remove them to clean.
I used to wear ear cuffs on one ear too.. I did want to get a third piercing in one of my ears for a long time. But don't have the desire now !

Sort of OT, but still on the ear piercing track: Does anyone think that years ago they used to pierce ears lower on the ear lobe? I prefer the way they do it now where the hole is closer to the center of the ear lobe.
If you are someone with very small lobes, or no lobes at all this may not apply to you. But I have large ear lobes (have always hated them), and I think a higher piercing would look much better.
I had my first piercing done in the mid 70s.

I was told that part of the infection problem was due to recommending rubbing alcohol as the astringent to use while healing. It unfortunately creates an environment that doesn't seem to stop infections (maybe even promotes them in some way). Same with Hydrogen Peroxide.
There are recommendations now that are far more effective for healing and stopping infections, many are recommended by Tattoo shops. I think one is called Seabreeze.... but you can look them up, it's a whole different world regarding piercings now....

Also, I almost regretted getting the piercing at the top of my ears (through Cartlidge)... PAINFUL! Not at the time of the piercing, it is just like the others... It never got infected but it took forever to heal, a whole year! If a hairdresser knocked into my ear I nearly slid out of the chair! I kept thinking another couple of weeks... another couple of weeks. Then finally after about a year... no pain, nothing. I can change earrings out no problem and I love the look.
Think twice about cartlidge piercings.... I don't regret it now, I think it looks great with a little stud up there.... but WILL NOT EVER get cartlidge pierced again. Nope ....

I have 2 piercings in both ears, I don't regret having the mulitiple piercings. I like so many mentioned had a hard time with the 2nd piercings healing. I had the 2nd piercings pierced 3 times. The last piercing, I left the original piercing earrings in my ears for over a year, those earrings were gold with longer posts. I would clean the piercings and rotate the earrings. I only wear stud earrings in the second piercing.

Sea Breeze is an astringent that was quite popular for oily skin in the 1970's.
It's still made and now has several formulas.
