Was browsing HSN's new jewelry section. I came across a pair of "mismatched" earrings in the Carol Brodie "Rarities" line.
I have heard of this concept before, and obviously, to each her own. Personally, there is no way I would do it! These are the same size and approximate style. But, there are differences in them. I would not spend $200 not to match!
Anyone interested?

@hyacinth003From at least 25 years ago, I have a pair of mismatched earrings. They are one-of-a-kind geometrics - colorful enameled squares. I do remember they were expensive, but I really don't remember how much.
I never wore them as earrings though. They are post and butterfly, so it was easy to wear them as lapel pins - those were the years when I wore a blazer or suit jacket to work almost all the time.

I don't see a reason to spend any $$ at all ~ just wear 2 different earrings from those you already own : )

Not for me. I've already said I'm a matchy-matchy gal (OCD!). These would drive me crazy. I know I couldn't see them, but I would think everyone would look at them and think that I was a sad old woman who couldn't even match her earrings. The only earrings I have that are not exactly alike are 14K hoops with my first initail as a charm on one and my last initial as a drop on the other. They were a special gift and because they are me, I can wear these without worry.
I agree if I were going to do something with different earrings, I would put the $200.00 in my pocket and choose two mismatched from what I already own. Rather odd to think people would pay and not think they could do it with what they already have.
I do think the earrings are pretty and would be nice to have a matched pair.

I like your idea! I think I will do that for my daughter. Get her first and last initial in earring charms!

No, but if this is a trend, I could start wearing the earrings I only have one left of, rather than hoping some day they will turn up!
They are ones I like so much, I just can't stop hoping.
So hey, I might as well wear one of each!

They will be more popular now. I just read on the internet about Megan Markle seen wearing mismatched earrings lately. If she, indeed, is to be a trend setter, then they will catch on once again.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art have a pair of mismatched earrings. One has a black pearl and the other has a white pearl. They were quite popular for many years. I just ordered a clearance item from (J330960) Peter Thomas Roth where it was suggested to order both the white and the black. I only ordered the white because I am not that adventurous. I have seen the look, though, and with the right outfit it can be quite pretty....

Hey I'm finally in style. I have several mismatched earrings and didn't know what to do with them until know. I even have some mismatched socks so I'm ready.😽

I might wear them, if they had a theme - like the moon on one earring and a star on the other. But funny to read this thread because last night I was watching the local news and a woman being interviewed had two very different earrings on.
I found it hard to focus on what she was saying, because I kept trying to see what the earring in her left ear looked like! Well, that and the fact that she was wearing a ring of assorted artificial flowers on her head that looked like they belonged on a six-year-old.
In general, my answer would be no. I don't care what the "trendsetters" are wearing.
