Is he still with QVC. Always found him entertaining.

He retired last year sometime. I miss him. I always enjoyed his shows and I liked his jewelry.

I think he retired from regular visits but will still come around for holidays.

His status seems a little shakey. He didn't sound certain of what he was going to do.

He was one of the long-timers at the Q. I did enjoy his products and hearing him speak and his interactions with the host. I purchased a couple eel skin products ages ago and they still look wonderful!!!

For awhile there, I thought he was retiring. There had been an article in a newspaper from Hawaii advertising a liquidation sale of his beads, etc.

Then I heard he was back for periodic visits.

Leslie Sansone was the first on air guest and Lee Sands was the first something else, I forget what his claim to fame was for QVC.

The vendors who have the very first contracts with QVC probably have very liberal provisions which allow him to remain a vendor more on their own terms (same with Leslie Sansone) and are probably difficult to end or amend.

As QVC evolved and caught on, the vendor contracts tightened up considerably and probably have 18,000 provisions that benefit QVC and allow QVC to "manage" products more than in the beginning.

I'm sure Tony Little has something very similar at HSN.

I worked with someone who was in the legal department at Discovery Networks and they said that Vern Yips contract for Trading Spaces neglected to put a required number of shows per season in his contract, so that's why we saw very little of him. He controlled the # of shows he appeared in.

I bought a beautiful eel wallet from him years ago. It is still in excellent condition especially with the patina. Since then, I needed an eel wallet that would have a larger and easier to access coin section. Lee didn't have any so I went to amazon. Received a very nice one that takes care of all my needs, but I can tell you it is not the same quality.

Wow! I forgot about him. I bought one of his eelskin wallets, but that was probably 20 years ago. I used that for years and years, but just never got into his other offerings.

Retirement is good - hope Lee can enjoy his.

Eel skin can be purchased online now from quite a few retailers. I still have a couple of coin purses from him and still enjoy using them.
