I really like Paul Deasy's Larimar TTV. Any one buying or thinking about it?

I like the stone, but I don't care for the setting -- too busy.

I like larimar. Just not this. What bugs me is flimsy chain they use on the pendant. It should be a bit thicker. Think Paul's pieces are overpriced for what you get.

Jewelry Television offers a simpler one with a larger stone for $149. (Ok, no topaz. And very simple.)

It's a beautiful gemstone. I own several pieces and it's always the luck of the draw with respect to the specific stone you receive and the mix and saturation of colors, particularly with an opaque like this where the lovely pale blue color is so important. I remember when the Q sold and presented some pretty larimar pieces, you know, back in the days when they actually had regular gemstone shows, and they didn't pick a 'flavor of the year' gemstone like drusy or black spinel and then proceed to run it into the ground.

Good quality Larimar should be pure baby blue and white. His has lots of that greenish color in it which is not good. It should look like a perfect blue summer sky with fluffy white clouds.

Larimar is one of the stones I absolutely want to see in person so I can choose the one that speaks to me. I ordered a larimar heart enhancer from QVC several years ago, on clearance, and I could see why when I got it. It was 90% white, with a wisp of blue. That's cheap, poor quality larimar.

I sent it back, and bought the same design on eBay, where there was a photo showing exactly what was for sale. A much nicer stone with much more blue. Obviously the blue ones had been available on QVC (the reviews were good) but it was down to the bottom of the barrel when I ordered clearance.

My sister and I took a cruise of the Western Caribbean in 2010. We were on one of the islands (?) and walked by a jewelry store. They had a Larimar pendant in the window that stopped me in my tracks, it was so beautiful. I went in and after some negotiating, it was mine! It's a large pear-shaped stone in a simple setting. I found a stone on eBay that was similar. The seller was a silversmith so I had him make me a large ring, for which I paid about $100. These stones have the pattern on them that looks exactly like the Caribbean water reflection on the sand in the shallows.

This stone reminds me of blue summer sky with white clouds. Enjoy those who have it.

I totally agree---too frilly and takes away from the stone.
