On August 17, 1988, the 92nd anniversary of the largest gold discovery in North America, QVC broadcast their first Klondike Gold Rush, which they would do so yearly until 2015. In 2016, QVC aired a Gold and Fine Jewelry Sale event in place of the venerable Klondike. Now in 2017, with the return of 24-hour California Gold Rush and Big Bonanza Silver Day, QVC will broadcast their 29th Klondike Gold Rush starting August 16 at 11pm and continuing all day Thursday, August 17. This is the first 25-hour Klondike Gold Rush since 2001. This is also this first Klondike Gold Rush with dedicated hours of Judith Ripka Jewelry and Imperial Gold.
