Re: Junky JTV Jewelry

[ Edited ]

@gertrudecloset  I dislike the stone.  It's too soft.  It's pretty to look at it, but I much prefer corundum.   Almost every shopping channel from JTV to Gem Shopping offer it every week.  Gem shopping has the top end version (with an intense dark blue to a purple blue hue) but sometimes offer the lighter  lower end pieces.  Worth it because they almost always have diamonds and are in at least 14K, compared to JTV, QVC, ShopHQ, endless silver with topaz.etc..  Oh to be a sapphire with that dark blue!  But it's not.

what I want to know is, why does JTV require the female presenters to look like they're still in the 70's with their hair all teased up to the sky and their outfits are years out of date. Their jewelry isn't all that great; I've never bought anything from them and I never will.

In 2014 I made 2 purchases from JTV.  I bought a Cor-De-Rosa Morganite ring & pendant both set in rose gold.  This was before morganite exploded in popularity.  The color on both pieces are beautiful and the pieces get noticed when I wear them.  I haven't bought anything before or since from JTV but these pieces are definitely not junky.

Sounds like you hit the jackpot; good for you! I recently started to watch that channel and I'm still undecided. Some of the hosts are really off-putting with very peculiar hairstyles, rapid-fire delivery, and sometimes what they're wearing...but I've seen a few pieces I'd like to try. I don't know about the quality of what they're selling and one of these days I intend to dip my toe in and take a chance

The only diamonds that I have ever bought from a shopping channel were a pair of Affinity huggie hoops in the art deco style. I bought these years ago and they are stunning. They look like antiques.

From JTV I have bought a good number of gemstone pieces and I have been very happy with almost all of them. Their Chrome Diopside jewelry can't be beat in price or quality. I have only returned one item that I can remember to JTV.

I'm a bit embarrassed to buy stuff from them in the first place. Their Bella is wonderful though.  And most things are plated over the silver. I have to show a picture of the best thing I ever bought from them.  A dancing Bella that really dances and jumps all over the place.  It's in a ring.  You can tell by the way it hinged that it jumps all over the place.  I've had it now about 8 years.

I also think their Bella is beautiful, unique designs, well made and great low pricing.

I love the Tanzanite stone.  I just prefer the triple Grade AAA stones.  Not all stones are created equal.  The stones are treated anyway, as are most gemstones.  Some colors of tanzanite can look like iolite.  It depends on the quality @songbird , I guess.  I don't own a Tanzanite though.  I'd prefer my birthstone for which I can't afford anymore which is Sapphire.  Of course I want a beautiful Ceylon Sapphire of significant carat weight.  Who could afford that?  Not me.....sigh........
