Haven't ordered any of this jewelry line. Wondering how the 14k gold clad holds up? I've bought other jewelry with the "gold over" silver and havent been too happy. I would prefer seeing more pieces in actual gold, but at the gold price now, I can understand why so many pieces are just gold over. Just wondering how Ripka jewelry compares. Thanks.

@Beading Gal I have a JR necklace in gold clad that has held up beautifully. I don't wear it every day and keep it in a jewelry bag. It looks brand new every time I go to wear it. I believe gold clad pieces have more gold overlay than gold-plated pieces.

I have had bad luck with Ripka's pieces. The silver pieces always turn a dingy grey and no matter what I cannot bring them back to life. And the gold clad pieces also look dark and dull. I no longer buy anything from her for those reasons.

@furbabylover - I had the same problem with the sterling pieces. Mine turned a strange greyish/dark color. I cleaned with a silver cloth but doesn't look any better. I have given a bunch of her jewelry to a consignment shop. Some does not get sold and they give it back to me.

I know, right? Ripka must use some strange metal alloy that causes her pieces to go grey. Totally not worth the money she is asking. Now my pieces are pretty much junk.

Sterling Silver will remain tarnish free if you wear it 24 hours a day, everyday. The jewelry rubs against your skin, keeping it tarnish free. If you only wear it occasionally, it will start to tarnish. The less you wear it, the quicker it will tarnish. I have one Sterling Silver ring that my husband gave me. I wear it on my forefinger all the time. It still shines 15 years later. It has never tarnished.
I read an article a few years ago about a sunken Spanish ship that they discovered. 400 hundred years in that water. Inside were tons of gold and tons of silver. The gold shown as brightly as the day they put it in the ship. The silver was black mess.

I only own a couple of her pieces and they haven't turned color or anything, still sparkle.
I do, however think you can buy jewelry with the same quality for much less $$. Silver should always be stored in an anti tarnish jewelry box.

I'll just comment that JR's pieces with gold clad probably have the same amount of gold or less for a much higher price than other QVC's gold clad jewelry. You pay for her name, not the quality of the pieces. Same with the silver. Silver clad, which may not be stated, instead of solid silver could tarnish faster and/or turn color.
