Jewelry programs, am I missing them?

I admit I don't watch QVC every day, nor do I check program schedules.   It seems to me there are much fewer jewelry shows, the fine and the faux,  than there once were.  Am I just missing them or are there actually considerably fewer jewelry shows than there were several years ago?   If that's the case, I have to wonder why.

I don't know why but QVC has take a few big steps away from genuine jewely.  I suspect that's because jewelry isn't very profitable for them.

@chrystaltree

That's interesting.  I always thought jewelry had a huge markup.   The only faux jewelry I've seen has been associated with clothing designers. Louis Del Olio has jewelry, but it's sold during his clothing shows.  I think Susan Graver also has a line of jewelry.

Seems to me, in years gone by, there was at least one jewelry show every other day.

QVC has raised its jewelry prices. Except for special silver day sales or a gold day, the usual (& few) shows are not a bargain...just easy pays. They've actually priced themselves out of the market. Most of what they sell can be obtained at much lower prices when on sale at dept. stores, jewelry stores or on Etsy...even other online sites.

Many of us are not purchasing jewelry as much as we used to and it's reflected in the sales. It makes more sense for them to fill the slots w/ items that are bringing in more money.

Costume jewelry is available at mall stores and their sites. What they have brought in is way out of line in price and style.

As far as fine jewelry, they purchase in bulk and should be getting much better wholesale prices, just not passing on any savings to us. We've lost many good jewelry designers on air because of that.

The competition from other shopping channels is brutal.  Gold is the only category that doesn't seem to be deeply cut by any of them.  Gemstones?  Check ShopLC.  Diamonique?  JTV's Bella Luce usually can beat Diamonique price-wise.

Very, very few fine jewelry shows on QVC and Hsn.

Younger people are not into jewelry so much.
Gold is very expensive.

I miss the gold buyer David M.

The gems are few and far between and very expensive.

I love the Adi Paz line, but so few shows and new items.

I'm saving a lot of $$$.

No, you are not mistaken. Live hours of jewelry on QVC are down again this year, down from about 250 hours a month in the 1990s, to 150 hours a month in the 2000s, from which it has steadily declined to about 50 hours a month from January to August 2019.

There were initially 17 hours of jewelry scheduled on QVC in November. With the cancellation of 5 hours of programming a night, that number is down to 8. Did you see the Affinity Diamond show at 1am ET last night? You only have seven more chances to watch jewelry this month on QVC.

Jewelry is taking the hardest hit with the repeated programming schedule- most jewelry shows this year have been either 24-hour- or partial-day events or late-night clearance shows, both of which appear to be on the chopping block for next year.

depglass isn't that the truth.  Gold is high everywhere.  Glad there are options for the other stuff.  Shophq had jewelry yesterday and heather hall will have her new  jewelry show Saturday evening.Smiley Happy

@banned again

Thanks a lot for the info!  No, I didn't see the 1:00 AM Affinity show.  I'm usually asleep at that time.  I purchased many nice pieces of gold jewelry from the Q and thought the prices were reasonable.  Apparently, I won't be purchasing any more from QVC.

BTW, does anyone have experience with Shophq?  I think that's the right name.  They had Versace handbags last night or the previous night.  I checked other retailers that sell that line and the Shop hq prices were much lower.

If you want gold jewelry at much better prices, try sarraf dotcom.  I've never been disappointed in their service or products.
