Jewelry Trends From Your Past

The "key" thread got me thinking about this.

2000-present: keys; add-on bracelets (pandora & other similar comnpanies).

90s: "journey" gemstone pendants; horseshoe necklaces. The right-hand ring thing.

80s: ginormopus plastic earrings (oh dear!); swatch watches, usually in pastels.

70s: In my gradeschool years, it was name necklaces, the sort Carrie Bradshaw brought back into style. And I remember charm bracelets being big--the kind where you'd get some sweet hokey charm every time you went on a trip. I wish I still had mine! Diamond-cutting!

My mother, from her 50's childhood, mentioned circle pins; high school rings; and, interestingly, saints' medals worn on long chains, even among protestant girls. And am I right that the strand of pearls as a must-have really took off in the 50s & was cemented by Jackie O?

I'd especially love to hear about previous decades; I know Victorians loved mourning jewelery, but the first half of the last century I don't really know much about.

One trend I wish would come back: brooches! I want to start wearing them on coats and sweaters. I think brooch-wearing is a lost art.

I just loved Tacorii jewelry.  I have quite a few pieces and they are well made dainty and beautiful.  I wish he woud co back to QVC.  He has specific style to h8is jewelry.
