I usually treat myself to jewelry on Christams. I am wanting either a James Avery or Brighton ring. Just can't decide which is the best value. Feedback??

Brighton rings are .925 silver ... I believe that is the only jewelry item in the Brighton line that is "actual sterling." I like their designs--whimsical and fun ... lightweight too. I own three rings.
I never purchased any Avery products.

James Avery. Brighton does not use sterling silver. Brighton's finish comes off their pieces.
"Brighton jewelry is created through a multi-step process that begins with a designer's hand sketch. Each piece is cast in solid brass or zinc alloy and is plated in pure silver. Since silver has a natural tendency to tarnish (oxidize) and scratch, we add a protective layer of lacquer to assist in retarding this natural process.
Brighton earring posts, French wires, and lever backs are composed of sterling silver (925). Clip on earrings are not sterling silver, they are stamped brass with a plating finish.
Brighton does manufacture certain ring styles with sterling silver. These rings will have the stamp of 925 on the inside. "

I have several Brighton pieces that tarnished and they would not polish up. I won't buy any more of their jewelry.

James Avery has a high standard, Brighton is on a much lower tier. They are generally in "fashion jewelry" areas, not where the quality is.

James Avery is real sterling silver. If you are planning to wear the bracelet all the time then that's the brand you should buy. Brighton loses its silver coating. Not pretty.

James Avery has excellent quality jewelry. I replaced my stolen wedding ring with a sterling/14k design from James Avery. It has a good weight, and has worn beautifully. His jewelry is more expensive, but so worth it!

Really there just isnt any comparison. James Avery. I have some beautiful pieces dating as far back as the 1970s!! I lost (or it was stolen) a heart pendant that i never got over.

James Avery would be my pick. His jewelry is solid sterling silver, and made in America. I have a sterling silver inspiration word charm bracelet,(love, faith, family, hope, faith, believe, etc.) The jewelry is solid not flimsy.Check out the jewelry on line, and on the plus side the company is family passed from father to his sons.
