Mask wearing eliminated many hoops with butterfly backs that always got hung up on the mask...ones that hooked within the back of hoop were my choice. I stopped wearing any studs that were "good ones", too, unless we were going out or masks were not needed. All my long necklaces/chains have been put away, too. They didn't work with such casual clothing over the last year and now, they seem to look overdone...got used to not wearing them. Any shorter necklaces that were thicker look like too much with a mask, too...now look too heavy.
Has anyone else re-vamped their jewelry and are wearing much less?
I haven't worn a watch, bracelet, ring or necklace since I retired 5 years ago. I wear leverback earrings about 75% of the time.

Last year I really started thinking more about my gold jewelry that I wasn't wearing and would likely never wear again. I also had a very heavy, solid 14K charm bracelet and some 18K pieces that belonged to my mother and, I just never wore them. Even though It was all just sitting in the bank vault, something kept me from parting ways with any of it for quite a few years. I've been loving and wearing all my sterling pieces for a long time, it actually looks better on me than gold does.
In early January I visited US Gold Buyers and sold almost all my gold jewelry when it hit about $2000 per ounce. It felt so liberating to do that, I can't describe how positive and freeing it was. Over $9000 added to my bank account was terrific too.
BTW, since I've lived in Florida for half my life, I haven't worn foundation in 30 something years. Maybe tinted moisturizer, always SPF. I can honestly testify your skin only gets better with less face makeup and more skincare.
@decaf I'm a silver gal, too....looks better on me. I also sold most of my gold jewelry, but 2 yrs. ago, inherited a lot of gold pieces and more gold jewelry she had from my Grandma. So, now I need to "let go" and sell the rest. I asked my DD, DIL and not interested. Frankly, the pieces are a bit big and gawdy. I'm sure I'll be selling them, too. ***I did save a few pieces for my granddaughters to give them when they're older.

I wore almost no jewelry during the pandemic. I wasn't wearing earrings before the pandemic but I stopped wearing bracelets, necklaces, rings, and watches. I think part of it was because I was exercising and doing physical therapy for my achilles tendon as well as my hip and back.
I think one of the first times I've worn a watch was in May when my daughter took me and my husband to the Van Gogh virtual exhibit. It was an excuse to get dressed up and put on jewelry and it was my first visit to downtown Vancouver, B.C. in nearly a year and a half. It was a wonderful experience to go to a museum exhibit and also eat out at a restaurant afterwards!
I never gave up on beauty or in store shopping for drugstore beauty or clothes here in British Columbia as we were never in a lockdown like other Canadian provinces at various times.) Non-essential stores here were closed from mid March 2020 to the end of May 2020 but they re-opened with social distancing restrictions and eventually mask mandates.
I have a lot of silver jewelry and want to wear some of it again but I can't see myself buying anymore jewelry, if that makes sense.

I still love & wear my jewelry. I recently inherited some from my mother and plan on bringing the pieces into a jeweler for cleaning.
I have not given up wearing hoops or dangly earrings (haven't worn small posts for years). I manage well even with a mask. ....just a few days ago I bought myself a pair of very fun sparkly large hanging earrings as a belated birthday gift to myself from a local boutique.
As for necklaces, it seems that statement necklaces are not a thing anymore as more delicate styles are the trend right now. I still have bolder pieces but don't wear those currently. I'm wearing lighter and more delicate necklaces now.

@haddon9 : Speak for yourself! I love statement necklaces but if I wear earrings they are never more than 1.5" ( usually 3/4-1" ). My necklace is always the focus of my outfit and I wear heavy chain or several strands, no delicate strands for me!

Our mask rule is still going until the end of this month, I believe. I've pretty much given up on all earrings as my hair covers most of them. I've started wearing bracelets again since my coats and jackets won't brush them off. And rings, I always have two rings on, change them every couple days. My ring receivers (like hair receivers) are full, its time to put them back in the boxes and start over.

I have hardly worn anything for years since retiring in 2013. No need to wear any. I put earrings on when I go to the store... thats it.

I definitely wore less jewelry because I didn't go anywhere for over a year. Now that I'm going out a bit more I'm enjoying wearing my jewelry again.
I actually did some downsizing several years ago. I sold, donated, and threw away some jewelry items so there's really nothing right now I want to get rid of.
The last time I bought new jewelry was a necklace at a consignment shop probably 3 years ago. I don't really need anything right now.
