I can resist Carolyn Pollack but Jay King's jewelry sings to me. I just love opaque stones; did before they were popular.

I have some malachite (my favorite stone) that is to die for.

I'm sitting on my hands; I have enough jewelry!

Re: Is anyone buying Jay King?

I purchased his TS.  The apatite necklace and earrings set.  It is my first purchase.  I read all the details.  The blue in that necklace is beautiful.

Re: Is anyone buying Jay King?

Most of King's pieces are costume-quality pseudo-gems. They are composite material composed of ground up rejected stones, epoxy resin and dye. That the stones are composite material is disclosed only in the online descriptions. Do not take his stories seriously; that is exactly what they are, fiction.

Although I do not own any Pollack, I respect her for preserving and promoting American artistry and keeping production of her jewelry lines in the U.S. I recognize there is a higher inherent cost and lower profit margin on goods made in America because of our labor laws and manufacturing standards.

I'm on a limited budget, but I love watching Jay King describe how he buys the raw gems and he turns them into very affordable works of art.

I've purchase only two of his items in the past.  I returned both.  They didn't look like real stones in person.  They almost looked plastic to me.

Re: Is anyone buying Jay King?

I've only purchased three and kept all. None were serious money. However, since I've been watching him for years that's not a lot. I've collected ethnic jewelry all my life and his suits me. Costume costs as much as his does now; I know, I buy good costume. I bought more Carolyn before she was American West.I tend to buy her Native American designers.

I love unusual stones and over the years have purchased a ton of Jay's mine finds. They are straight from the earth, unadulterated. Now his turquoise is another matter. He has played loose and easy with it and I won't buy it. He was selling "block" turquoise for years before HSN got around to including that information and I've never heard Jay mention it.

His jewelry isn't big on design elements but is instead all about the stone. I don't know of anyone on TV who tells better stories or is more likable than Jay King.

I got the multi stone expandable bracelet to wear with my bangles, although it occurred to me that the stones may end up under my arm in which case I'll return it.

I purchased the TS.  I thought the color blue of the necklace was amazing.  I read the details.  This will be my first purchase.  I hope it looks as good in person.  It was beautiful on TV.  Not all of his pieces are composit.  He does use a lot of silver in his pieces and some of his pieces are pretty substantial.

Re: Is anyone buying Jay King?

I bought a malachite pen as a gift. He makes it clear it's a composite. The one pair of malachite earrings and the rose quartz necklace were "all about the stone." The necklace was a major markdown. HSN has great jewelry sales.

Re: Is anyone buying Jay King?

Theirr sales are wonderful.  On top of that almost every vendor has something for $38.00 to celebrate HSN's 38th anniversary.  I picked up a color enhanced yellow jade ring for $38.00.  I have one other ring from Jade of Yesteryear and the quality is really good.  There are not many jade pieces on other sites.  The jade of yesteryear is a natural mint green which I find very pretty.
