I love the resin idea. I save money when I buy, have the look of real gold because the gold is real - and the money I save when I buy the piece makes up for anything I might "earn" later if I want to sell.
Actually, I'm probably way ahead because I sell almost nothing unless it's badly damaged. I love gold, know what I like in jewelry and keep what I buy for years and years. At my age, that would mean what I buy today will be in my jewelry box when I head to the nursing home or beyond. And, the money I saved? I get to choose how to spend that!
millie: I am with you 110% though I know there are many on this board who will disagree. I buy jewelry that makes me happy and that I love to wear -- thinking about it as an investment rarely crosses my mind. Today I purchased J283884 -- looking forward to receiving them.
As I've long said, add me to that list.
Most jewelry I buy is to wear and enjoy. It isn't obtained as an investment.
Certainly, like most folks, I have different levels of jewelry and will always want to add that occasional nicer piece, but for day to day wear, I've purchased, enjoy and have had absolutely no problems with QVC's resin filled pieces. Unlike some, I guess, not every piece I desire or own must be 'solid' gold.
I do draw the line though at resin filled silver. There's simply no reason for it.

No harm done if there was a specific stamp for silicone/resin filled jewelry. How could anyone object to that? Everyone who likes it could still buy and enjoy it, yet no one would be deceived if somewhere down the line the piece was sold.

I understand that some find the 14K over resin to be a great deal for them and that's fine...but I think the jewelry should be stamped indicating it contains resin ....it is clear if you have a huge ring and it is very lightweight that it isn't all gold...even if it was plated over base metal it would be heavier than resin. I never buy jewelry with the intention of ever selling it, only wearing and enjoying it....but even with resin inside most of the pricing on this stuff is way too much IMO. It's just another version of gold-plated jewelry.

Agreed. I consider clad and this new resin craze to be high priced costume.

I would be absolutely fine with a stamp that indicates a ring or pair of earrings is resin filled. I don't buy a piece of jewelry in order to show it's 14K stamp rather I buy what pleases my eye. When I purchase earrings I make sure that the piece going through my ear is a quality metal (gold, silver, stainless etc). My only criteria for the ornamental portion is that it makes me happy and fits my budget.
So I can be in complete agreement to those who want the contents reflected in the stamp. What I couldn't understand were the views that seemed to say QVC shouldn't offer anything other than solid gold because somehow that is an affront to customers.

There is no reason for them to mark it now. There's no law that says they have to. David said yesterday QVC was the only one doing a certain process, to which process he was referring I'm not sure. This was just after he said they were going back to the "old" way of making gold pieces. Once I saw Oro Nuovo on the screen when he was talking I was gone for the rest of the day.

That's too bad, because there were lots of non Oro Nuovo pieces offered. It wasn't quite like the days of old they wanted to try to make it out to be, but there was a fair assortment of 'real' gold jewelry and some of it was very nicely done, or looked to be.

I don't care if they stamp the resin filled either, it wouldn't bother me a bit, and it also wouldn't deter me from buying a piece here and there, though I don't want an entire jewelry box filled with it... Still, as noted, apparently it meets the criteria for 'gold' jewelry, and they don't have to so-stamp it... As for the whole costume thing, I would agree that so much of what they sell under some lines, certainly Bronzo and even some of the designer silver, is, to me, pricey costume. Personally, I don't consider the resin filled gold options costume. If they are to be believed, the gold in these pieces could stand on it's own and for me, gold is never costume... We all have our own points of view and that's as it should be...
