I have a pair of earrings from when they were at QVC years ago.

They are the kind of kite shaped, with a LEVER BACK.  The newer ones they have just have a wire, so the quality has been lowered.

I was always hoping they would offer the same earring in the larger size they used to offer.  When they came back, I saw the one I already have but not the larger one.

Lever backs are so much better.  I had one of my wire earrings (really expensive) fall from my ear yesterday.  Fortunately I found it, but lesson learned.

I understand what you are saying...i would never buy a pair of expensive earring with just a wire hook back......it isn't secure enough and can easily fall off...

Agreed re safety of wires. I always use a stopper on end of wire tip, this prevents wire from slipping out of ear.

@IMW, I learned my lesson the hard way.  I lost one of my favorite earrings.  I always use the rubber stopper now as well.  You can buy packages of them.  LM

I agree.  I don't like, and won't wear,  fishhooks either.

I like the new 14k tricolor leverback earrings IG is offering today.  J356009

I buy rose gold and yellow gold 14k leverback earrings when they are super cheap....close outs, as is, and such.  I've priced buying just the levers but it's cheaper to buy earrings.  I found a pair of super cheap DMQ rose gold leverbacks on Q a couple of months ago and bought them.  I threw away the DMQ stones (I hate DMQ) and will keep them.  When I find earrings on wires or even studs, I have a local jeweler put them on the leverbacks.

I saw those.  They are $350 and seem overpriced.  The leverback doesn't cost that much.  I know Imperial Gold is a handmade process, but I wouldn't pay that for these earrings.

Maybe they heard feedback about the wires.

I am going to start doing that.

The earrings I almost lost are not Imperial Gold.  They are an intricate filagree with turquoise that cost me at least $400.  I probably shouldn't have paid that, but they really struck me.

It came off twice.  I pinched the hook tighter, but it came off a second time.  Luckily it fell into my blouse and down my bra!  I thought I had lost them at my doctor's office but couldn't find them there.  I didn't realize I had them until I got undressed.  I was quite relieved, so rubber stoppers from now on!
