@CaChica   I have little gold balls soldered on the inside of the shank of certain rings that are about a half size too big.  Because of my arthritic knuckle I did not want to size the ring down and the gold sizing balls allow the ring to pass over my knuckle without pain. It keeps the ring upright without flopping over to the side once it's on the finger.

Thank you ladies for all your replies!  I will check out a couple local jewelers and the internet to see what I can find for a solution. One never knows when you purchase a ring what the future will bring as far as size changes. 

I'll probably try to sell the precious and silver designer rings on ebay one of these days and maybe send a few rings to nieces who live out of town.

I have a friend who is older and she hates the word elderly.  I read that one isn't elderly until the age 75 but my friend and her girlfriends are far from elderly acting.  They could run circles around the best of them. I'll never think of her as elderly.  Just correct to say senior, or ignore it. 

I started having arthritis in my hands at 40 and it bothered me a lot.  I didn't know what it was and I though it was because I worked on the computer a lot.  One doesn't have to be 'old' to have arthritis.

For gold rings....  I had little dots of gold put on the inside of my gold rings. to keep them in place once they got over the knuckles. They didn't bother my finger at all.

This kind of ring is an option for arthritic fingers. The shank opens up and then clicks to close.

I have a similar problem with my ring finger. Years ago I found a local jewler who recommended that I purchase a ring guard that I couold use to keep to keep the rings secure that kept rolling off my fingers. He also recommended  "sizing beads" placed on the inside of the rings to hold them in place. The other rings that were too small anymore he suggested expandeding the band in the same gold.  I found that a regular family owned jeweler was the best for my needs. I did check out a few of the big jewlery stores and wasn't impressed with the service or options. I checked the BBB to see if any of them had complaints to help with my deciidsion. Good luck!
