Non traditional or modern jewelry is preferred. I love gem stones, more than diamonds. My eternity band has five stones - representing each family member (and their families). A non-trad wedding would also be of interest to me - 36 years later!

Debbie555 if you don't have one, I recommend investing in a 10x triplet loupe. If you've never used one, you'll be surprised at the imperfections, inclusions, chips, etc., in some stones. When it comes to colored gems, it's all about the color first, at least for me. I am picky, too. I don't want inclusions, chips, scratches, etc. I always loupe the stone in any piece before buying.
I love colored gemstones and I love rings and bracelets better than pendants and earrings, maybe because I can see my jewelry better if it's a ring or a bracelet.
I hope you find those special gems you're looking for! Please post about your purchases.

I love rings to the point my DH thinks I must have some type of medical disorder lol. My current ring is contemporary in style. But I've become fascinated with Old European Cut (OEC) diamonds and vintage settings. If I could have another ring I would get one like the one in the photo. Someday...

I found a message board called prices cope, it's all about gemstones and diamonds and there are some trusted (according to them) sources for buying gems, I want a nice quality stone with obviously a nice color since that orange color is so gorgeous but I also am not going to spend tens of thousands or even thousands...lol.. I am going to look into buying that loupe, definitely.Debbie555 if you don't have one, I recommend investing in a 10x triplet loupe. I highly recommend Pricescope. I have purchased quite a few items from jewelers and lapidaries recommended by PSers. If you want to know about buying a diamond or gemstone post there.

I haven't been on pricescope for years! Forgot about it. Got lots of valuable info when I was searching for a larger diamond than my original engagement ring, which was only 1/3 ct. I finally purchased from a local goldsmith. But I think there was a user named Rhino there who had a site with lots of info.
If you buy a stone, you could wind up paying quite a bit for a custom setting. The good news is you can dictate exactly what the ring will look like which makes it one of a kind. It usually does cost more than if you bought it already set but if you're a ring lover, you will enjoy designing your own piece.

Yes, Rhino. He is the owner of Good Old Gold. I agree that his site has a ton of info on diamonds. He will even create a video of the diamond you're interested in. Very cool stuff.

Melfie, that's gorgeous! There used to be a site called Jewels by Erica Grace. The 2 ladies split up but if you search, you can find their separate sites. One has quite a few old european cuts and transitional cuts. Not cheap but lovely!

I know Grace. She's great to work with. I've also consigned items with her. Both sites (Jewels by Grace and Love Affair Diamonds) are so much fun to look through. Great to see someone here who is familiar with them
